Terry Jordan (Canadian Writer)
Terry Jordan is a fiction writer, musician, essaying and dramatist whose stage plays have been produced across the country, in the U.S and Ireland. His book of stories ''It's a Hard Cow'', won a Saskatchewan Book Award and was nominated for the Commonwealth Book Prize. His novel, ''Beneath That Starry Place'' was published internationally. Jordan taught Creative Writing at Concordia University, Montreal, and was the first Margaret Laurence Fellow at Trent University. In the past he facilitated the Fiction workshop at Sage Hill Writing Experience, served as Writer in Residence at the Saskatoon, Regina and Winnipeg Public Libraries, and Okanagan College. Dominion Day Stakes
The Dominion Day Stakes is a Thoroughbred horse race run annually in July at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. A Grade III event currently offering a purse of CAD$150,000 +, it is open to horses aged three years and up. The race was run at a distance of miles from its inception until 1983 when it was changed to its present miles format. It was raced on dirt until 2007 when a polytrack surface was installed. In 2016, the surface was changed to Tapeta synthetic turf. Inaugurated in 1953 at the Old Woodbine Racetrack, it remained there until the track closed in 1955. The race celebrates Dominion Day, the birth of the Canadian Confederation on July 1, 1867. Ace Marine, one of Canada's greatest runners, and its 1955 Horse of the Year, won this race in 1956. WFNC (AM)
WFNC (640 kHz) is an AM radio station in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The station has a conservative talk format and is under ownership of Cumulus Media. Its studios and transmitter are co-located in Fayetteville. History Victor Dawson managed Fayetteville's first radio station for his father John Gilbert Dawson. In 1940, WFNC signed on with 250 watts at 1420 AM. On March 29, 1941, the frequency changed to 1450 AM. WFNC was a Mutual Broadcasting System affiliate. Later WFNC became a CBS Radio News affiliate and continues with CBS to the present time.
