Terry Ingersoll
Terence John Ingersoll (18 August 1934 – 29 September 2020) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Career Ingersoll, a full-forward, had a prolific season for Western Suburbs in 1956, breaking the NSW Australian Football Association record for most goals in a year. He kicked 101 goals in the home and away season, which included 15 and 17 goal hauls in successive weeks, against Balmain and St George respectively. He wrote his name into the record books again at Hawthorn, when he kicked a club record five goals on debut, in the opening round of the season, against Carlton at Princes Park. By the end of the season he had kicked 33 goals, topping Hawthorn's goal-kicking and winning their "Best First Year Player" award. Inner West Magpies (formerly Western Suburbs AFC) is an Australian rules football club competing in the AFL Sydney league. The club is based in the inner west of Sydney, New South Wales, and its senior teams play their home games at their home ground of Picken Oval; having previously played out of Henson Park in 2009 and 2010. The Western Wolves AFC women's team fully integrated with the men's team before the 2019 AFL Sydney season; in conjunction with this integration the club changed its name in order to better represent its region and community. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Full-forward is a position in Australian rules football and Gaelic football with a key focus on kicking goals. The Coleman Medal is awarded to the player, often a full-forward, who has kicked the most goals in an Australian Football League season. In modern Australian rules football and Gaelic football, in which players do not strictly stick to a single position, the full-forward is often referred to as a "Key Forward" and can often switch positions with the centre half-forward for "team balance" reasons.
