Terry Grosz
Terry Grosz (June 22, 1941February 5, 2019) was an American game warden. He rose to oversee a large district in the Mountain West and Midwestern United States before retiring in 1998. After his retirement he published several books that included stories from his career. Early life Grosz was born on June 22, 1941, to Ernie Grosz and Alberta (Dresden) Barnes in Toppenish, Washington. His family soon moved to Quincy, California, where he played several sports in high school and was president of the student body from 1958 to 1959 as a senior. He graduated from high school in 1959 and entered Humboldt State University. On February 3, 1963, he married Donna Larson, whom he had met in eighth grade. The following year, Grosz graduated from Humboldt, with a Bachelor of Science in wildlife science. He received a Master of Science two years later, in 1966. Snagging
Snagging, also known as snag fishing, snatching, snatch fishing, jagging (Australia), or foul hooking, is a fishing technique for catching fish that uses sharp grappling hooks tethered to a fishing line to externally pierce (i.e. "snag") into the flesh of nearby fish, without needing the fish to swallow any hook with its mouth like in angling. This is achieved by suddenly and vigorously pulling the line (either by handlining or with a rod) when movement is felt, causing the snag hook to "claw" into any fish unfortunate enough to be grappled by the hook points. Weighted multi-hook rigs can be used to increase chances of success, and modern technologies such as underwater video camera can also be used to visually aid and time the snagging. Some herbivorous/ algaevorous fish species, such as paddlefish, are not attracted to normal angling baits or lures as they primarily filter-feed on plankton. The National Outdoor Book Award (NOBA) was formed in 1997 as an American-based non-profit program which each year presents awards honoring the best in outdoor writing and publishing. It is housed at Idaho State University and chaired by Ron Watters.National Outdoor Book Awards official website. San Luis Valley
The San Luis Valley is a region in south-central Colorado with a small portion overlapping into New Mexico. The valley is approximately long and wide, extending from the Continental Divide on the northwest rim into New Mexico on the south. It contains 6 counties and portions of 3 others. It is an extensive high-elevation depositional basin of approximately with an average elevation of above sea level. The valley is a section of the Rio Grande Rift and is drained to the south by the Rio Grande, which rises in the San Juan Mountains to the west of the valley and flows south into New Mexico.
