Terry (dog)
Terry (November 17, 1933 – September 1, 1945) was a female Cairn Terrier performer who appeared in many different movies, most famously as Toto in the film ''The Wizard of Oz'' (1939). It was her only credited role, though she was credited not as Terry but as Toto. She was owned and trained by Carl Spitz and Gabrielle Quinn. Life and career Terry, born in the midst of the Great Depression, was trained and owned by Carl Spitz. She was the mother of Rommy, another movie Cairn terrier, who appeared in other films including '' Reap the Wild Wind'' (1942) and '' Air Force'' (1943). Her first film appearance was in ''Ready for Love'' (1934) which was released on November 30, 1934, roughly one month before her first major film appearance, with Shirley Temple, in '' Bright Eyes'' (1934) as Rags. Toto (Oz)
Toto is a fictional dog in L. Frank Baum's ''Oz'' series of children's books, and works derived from them. His name is pronounced with a long "O", a homophone of "toe toe". He was originally a small terrier drawn by W. W. Denslow for the first edition of ''The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'' (1900). He reappears in numerous adaptations, such as '' The Wizard of Oz'' (1939) and ''The Wiz'' (1978). Books The classic books Toto belongs to Dorothy Gale, the heroine of the first and many subsequent books. In the first book, he never spoke, although other animals, native to Oz, did. In subsequent books, other animals gained the ability to speak upon reaching Oz or similar lands, but he remained speechless. In ''Tik-Tok of Oz'', continuity is restored: he reveals that he is able to talk, just like other animals in the Land of Oz, and simply chooses not to. Winkie Country
The Winkie Country is the western region of the fictional Land of Oz in L. Frank Baum's classic series of Oz books, first introduced in ''The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'' (1900). The Winkie Country is in the West, noted by later being ruled by the Wicked Witch of the West. This quadrant is strictly distinguished by the color yellow. This color is worn by most of the native inhabitants called the Winkies and predominates in the local surroundings. The Winkies are relatively normal in appearance with the exception of their yellow-tinted skin. Tin abounds there and it is said that the Winkies are some of the most skillful tinsmiths in the world. ''The Dark Angel'' is a 1935 film that tells the story of three childhood friends, Kitty (Merle Oberon), Alan (Fredric March), and Gerald (Herbert Marshall) who come of age in England during the First World War.
