Territorial Army (Germany)
The Territorial Army (''Territorialheer'') was a military reserve force, part of the German Army of the Bundeswehr, which was responsible for territorial defence from the 1950s to c.2001. In contrast to the field army, the territorial army was nationally commanded even in the anticipated wartime fighting period (similar to UK Transition To War). In contrast to the field army, it consisted largely of Reserve forces, which only grew in the event of a defense by conscription of reservists. The Heimatschutztruppe (Home Defence Troops) formed part of the Territorial Army. The main function of the ''Territorialheer'' was to maintain the operational freedom of NATO forces through providing rear area defence against saboteurs, enemy special forces, and the like. The Deutsche Bundespost (German federal post office) was a German state-run postal service and telecommunications business founded in 1947. It was initially the second largest federal employer during its time. After staff reductions in the 1980s, the staff was reduced to roughly 543,200 employees in 1985. The corporation was dissolved in 1995 under two rounds of postal reforms that took place in the German Post Office in 1989 and 1995, respectively. Reserve Forces
A military reserve force is a military organization whose members have military and civilian occupations. They are not normally kept under arms, and their main role is to be available when their military requires additional manpower. Reserve forces are generally considered part of a permanent standing body of armed forces, and allow a nation to reduce its peacetime military expenditures and maintain a force prepared for war. In countries with a volunteer military, such as Canada, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom, reserve forces are civilians who maintain military skills by training periodically (typically one weekend per month). Joint Support Service (Germany)
The Joint Support Service (german: Streitkräftebasis, , ''abbreviated:'' SKB, ; literally Armed Forces Foundation) is a branch of the German ''Bundeswehr'' established in October 2000 as a result of major reforms of the ''Bundeswehr''. It handles various logistic and organisational tasks of the ''Bundeswehr''. The SKB is one of six components of the ''Bundeswehr'', the other five being the Army, Navy, Air Force, the Joint Medical Service, and the Cyber and Information Domain Service.
