Terra Nova Bay
Terra Nova Bay is a bay which is often ice free, about long, lying between Cape Washington and the Drygalski Ice Tongue along the coast of Victoria Land, Antarctica. It was discovered by the British National Antarctic Expedition (known as the ''Discovery'' Expedition) under Robert Falcon Scott, 1901–1904, and named by him after '' Terra Nova'', one of the relief ships for the expedition. The Italian permanent Zucchelli Station is located in the bay, as is the Jang Bogo Station of South Korea. Relief Inlet can be found in the south west corner of the Bay. Antarctic Specially Protected Area A marine area of of the bay comprising a narrow strip of coastal waters about long, to the immediate south of Zucchelli Station, and extending to a maximum of from the shore, has been designated an Antarctic Specially Protected Area (ASPA 161). Olbia (, ; sc, Terranoa; sdn, Tarranoa) is a city and commune of 60,346 inhabitants (May 2018) in the Italian insular province of Sassari in northeastern Sardinia, Italy, in the historical region of Gallura. Called ''Olbia'' in the Roman age, Civita in the Middle Ages (Judicates period) and ''Terranova Pausania'' before the 1940s, Olbia was again the official name of the city during the fascist period. ''Terra Nova'' was a whaler and polar expedition ship. She is best known for carrying the 1910 British Antarctic Expedition, Robert Falcon Scott's last expedition. Construction ''Terra Nova'' (Latin for "new land") was built in 1884 for the Dundee whaling and sealing fleet. The ''Terra Nova'' Expedition, officially the British Antarctic Expedition, was an expedition to Antarctica which took place between 1910 and 1913. Led by Captain Robert Falcon Scott, the expedition had various scientific and geographical objectives. Scott wished to continue the scientific work that he had begun when leading the ''Discovery'' Expedition from 1901 to 1904, and wanted to be the first to reach the geographic South Pole. He and four companions attained the pole on 17 January 1912, where they found that a Norwegian team led by Roald Amundsen had preceded them by 34 days. Scott's party of five died on the return journey from the pole; some of their bodies, journals, and photographs were found by a search party eight months later. Terranova is a barrio in the municipality of Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 3,102. History Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States.
