Terny, Sumy Oblast
Terny ( uk, Терни, russian: Терны) is an urban-type settlement in Romny Raion of Sumy Oblast in Ukraine. It is located on the banks of the Tern, a tributary of the Sula in the drainage basin of the Dnieper. Terny belongs to Nedryhailiv settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: Until 18 July 2020, Terny belonged to Nedryhailiv Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Sumy Oblast to five. The area of Nedryhailiv Raion was merged into Romny Raion. Hromada
A hromada ( uk, територіальна громада, lit=territorial community, translit=terytorialna hromada) is a basic unit of administrative division in Ukraine, similar to a municipality. It was established by the Government of Ukraine on 12 June 2020. Similar terms exist in Poland (''gromada'') and in Belarus (''hramada''). Highway M02 (Ukraine)
Highway M02 is a Ukraine international highway ( M-highway) connecting the M01 near Kipti with Bachivsk on the border with Russia, where it continues as the M3 to Moscow. The entire route is part of European route E101 and the section from Hlukhiv to the Russian border is part of European route E391. The M02 stretches through both the Chernihiv Oblast and the Sumy Oblast and ends at the border checkpoint at Bachivsk which is part of Hlukhiv Raion. Konotop
Konotop ( uk, Конотоп ) is a city in Sumy Oblast in northeastern Ukraine. Konotop serves as the administrative center of Konotop Raion. Konotop is located about 129 km from Sumy, the oblast administrative center. It is host to Konotop air base, now held by Ukraine. Nedryhailiv ( uk, Недригайлів) is an urban-type settlement situated on the Sula River in Sumy Oblast, northeastern Ukraine. It formerly served as the administrative center of the Nedryhailiv Raion, housing the raion's administrative structure until the raion's abolition in 2020, but is now administered within Romny Raion. Sula (Dnieper)
The Sula ( uk, Сула́; russian: Су́ла) is a left tributary of the Dnieper with a total length of 363 km and a drainage basin of 19,600 km². The river flows into the Dnieper through the Kremenchuk Reservoir, with which it forms a large delta with numerous islands, on which rare kinds of birds live. An important tributary is the Uday, smaller ones being Orzhytsya, Sliporid, Romen and Tern. Large cities located on the river are Romny, Lokhvytsia and Lubny. Tern (river)
Terns are seabirds in the family Laridae that have a worldwide distribution and are normally found near the sea, rivers, or wetlands. Terns are treated as a subgroup of the family Laridae which includes gulls and skimmers and consists of eleven genera. They are slender, lightly built birds with long, forked tails, narrow wings, long bills, and relatively short legs. Most species are pale grey above and white below, with a contrasting black cap to the head, but the marsh terns, the Inca tern, and some noddies have dark plumage for at least part of the year. The sexes are identical in appearance, but young birds are readily distinguishable from adults. Terns have a non-breeding plumage, which usually involves a white forehead and much-reduced black cap.
