Laval (; ) is a city in Quebec, Canada. It is in the southwest of the province, north of Montreal. It is the largest suburb of Montreal, the third-largest city in the province after Montreal and Quebec City, and the thirteenth largest city in Canada with a population of 422,993 in 2016. Laval is geographically separated from the mainland to the north by the Rivière des Mille Îles, and from the Island of Montreal to the south by the Rivière des Prairies. De la Concorde station is an intermodal transit station in Laval, Quebec, Canada. It serves the Montreal Metro's Orange Line and connects to Exo's Saint-Jérôme commuter rail line. It is located in the Laval-des-Rapides district and opened April 28, 2007, as part of Montreal Metro's extension into Laval. Description The station is named after boulevard de la Concorde, which in turn is named for the Place de la Concorde in Paris. Saint-Eustache () is an off-island suburb of Montreal, in western Quebec, Canada, west of Montreal on the north shore of the Rivière des Mille Îles. It is located northwest of Montreal. History The city was founded in 1770 and was incorporated in 1835. It has a famous church, Saint-Eustache church, which was built between 1780 and 1783. A significant battle of the Lower Canada Rebellion was fought here on December 14, 1837. In the Battle of Saint-Eustache, the rebels were defeated, and the town was burnt. The church was fully rebuilt after the burning except for the front facade, where canon bullet holes can still be found. Exo Laurentides provides local bus service for the southern portion of the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada, mainly the suburban area on the northwest side of Montreal. Sainte-Dorothée was a commuter rail station operated by the Réseau de transport métropolitain (RTM) in Laval, Quebec, Canada. It is a future Réseau express métropolitain station. Origin of name Sainte-Dorothée takes its name from the Sainte-Dorothée district of Laval, Quebec. Between 1993 and 1995, prior to the modernization of the Deux-Montagnes Line, there were three stations served now by Sainte-Dorothée, from north to south: Laval-sur-le-Lac, Laval-Links, and Sainte-Dorothée. Terminus Côte-Vertu is an Exo bus terminus partly north and partly south of the Côte-Vertu Metro station. It is located in the borough of Saint-Laurent in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Before this new terminus was built, all bus stops were located on the streets near the Metro station entrances. This created a lot of traffic jams on Côte-Vertu and Decarie boulevards. The buses heading to the West Island were inconveniently located at the Edouard-Laurin street entrance. The southern portion of the terminus occupies part of what was once the Edouard-Laurin Streetcar Terminus. Located in the Pont-Viau district, it is part of an extension into Laval, and opened on April 28, 2007. Architecture It is a normal side platform station. The station's main entrance, adjoining the bus terminal, takes the form of a right triangle, with the legs parallel to the streets and the hypotenuse parallel to the tracks, thereby bringing the aboveground and underground world into relation. There is an entrance at each of the two points of the triangle, while the centre is sunken to provide access to the escalators to the ticket hall and to the tunnel to the secondary entrance. Sainte-Rose is a district in Laval, Quebec. It was incorporated as a village in 1850, and was a separate town until the municipal mergers on August 6, 1965 which amalgamated all the municipalities on Île Jésus into a single City of Laval. Ste-Rose is best known for the parish church, erected 1740, which contains a Casavant Frères organ and hosts numerous concerts every year, and for "Vieux Ste-Rose", an area known for its old houses and its restaurants. Chomedey, Quebec
Chomedey is a district in the southwest of the city of Laval and was a separate municipality until the municipal mergers in 1965. History On April 1, 1961, the towns of and and the city of Saint-Martin were merged, giving birth to the city of Chomedey. Chomedey's city hall became the city hall for all of Laval. The merger project was first launched by the administration of the city of L'Abord à Plouffe. On August 10, 1960, it passed a resolution expressing its desire to merge the three municipalities and the city of Laval-des-Rapides, under the name "Cité de Laval".
