Teresa Silva (karateka)
Teresa Silva is a Spaniards, Spanish Parasports, elite sportswoman with disabilities, founder and president of Fundación También. She has also made a name for herself in disciplines such as skiing and adapted sailing, in which she has been Champion of Spain and Regional Champion, respectively. Creator of the first female adapted alpine sit skiing competition team in Spain in 2007. President of the Spanish 2.4 mR Sailing Association. She is also a recognised speaker in the world of disability and adapted sports. Nathalie Carpanedo
Nathalie Carpanedo is a Spanish para-alpine sit skier. Having started in able bodied skiing when she was eight years old, she switched to the para-alpine side in 2002 following an accident. She has been involved with several firsts in women's disability skiing in Spain. She has competed in a number of skiing events since 2009 including the 2009 National Championships where she won a pair of gold medals in the slalom and giant slalom events. Personal Carpanedo has a physical disability, that is a result of an accident. In 2009, she was awarded the Real Orden del Mérito Deportivo Español. In March 2011, she attended an event at the Palace of Zarzuela in Spain hosted by Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia that sought to promote disability sport and social integration of people with disabilities in the country. The Barcelona Ladies Open was a tennis tournament for women held in Barcelona in Catalonia (Spain) and was played on outdoor clay courts. It was an International-level tournament on the WTA Tour with total prize money of $220,000. The tournament began in November 2003 as a $10,000 challenger event on the ITF Women's Circuit. Prize money was increased to $25,000 the following year; in 2005, the event was moved to October with the prize money increasing to $75,000. In 2007, the tournament was upgraded to the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, becoming a Tier IV played in June, and remained in this classification through 2008. Since 2009, the event has been held in April. Esther Peris
Esther Peris (born November 28 1980) is a Spanish paraplegic who has competed in table tennis and para-alpine skiing at the national level. Table tennis Peris is an adaptive table tennis player, and a member of Escuela de Tenis de Mesa Adaptado de la Fundación del Lesionado Medular. In 2012, she competed in the Spanish national table tennis championships. Skiing Peris started able-bodied skiing a year before she became a paraplegic. She only had limited time to participate and never competed in able-bodied ski competitions. In para-alpine skiing, Peris is a sit-skier. When skiing on her own in Spain, many resorts require that she be accompanied by a monitor to supervise her on the slopes. This and specialized equipment make skiing very expensive.
