Terence Young (politician)
Terence Hart Young (born July 24, 1952) is a politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Conservative member of the House of Commons of Canada from 2008 to 2015 who represented the riding of Oakville. Previously, Young was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario between 1995 and 1999. Background Young was born in Toronto, Ontario. His father was an Anglican minister at St. Anne's Anglican Church in Toronto's west end. Young's mother Judith is a member of the Massey family. His great uncle Denton Massey represented the riding of Greenwood in Toronto in parliament from 1935 until 1949, and is related to Raymond Massey. He received his B.A. in Political and Social Science from York University in 1975 and attended Osgoode Hall Law School for one year, before pursuing a business career. Oakville is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1997. History It was created in 1996 from parts of Halton and Oakville—Milton ridings. It consisted initially of the part of the Town of Oakville lying southeast of the Queen Elizabeth Way and Upper Middle Road. In 2003, it was redefined to consist of the part of the Town of Oakville lying southeast of a line drawn from the northeastern town limit southwest along Dundas Street East, southeast along Eighth Line and southwest along Upper Middle Road to the southwestern town limit. This riding was unchanged after the 2012 electoral redistribution. Greenwood was a federal electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1935 to 1979. It was located in east end of the city of Toronto in the province of Ontario. This riding was created in 1933 from parts of Toronto East and Toronto—Scarborough ridings. It initially was bounded on the south by Lake Ontario, on the east by Woodbine Avenue, on the north by the city limits, and on the west by the eastern boundary of Broadview riding. The 39th Canadian Parliament was in session from April 3, 2006 until September 7, 2008. Order Paper
The Order Paper is a daily publication in the Westminster system of government which lists the business of parliament for that day's sitting. A separate paper is issued daily for each house of the legislature. The Order Paper provides members of the legislature with details of what will be happening in that house, including the questions that have been tabled for departmental question sessions and members who have been selected to speak. It also gives details of when and where the standing committees and select committees will be meeting, and the list of debates to be held. Written questions tabled to ministers by members of the legislature on the previous day are listed at the back of the order paper. British parliamentarians often wave their Order Paper during debates in the House of Commons. Cisapride
Cisapride is a gastroprokinetic agent, a drug that increases motility in the upper gastrointestinal tract. It acts directly as a serotonin 5-HT4 receptor agonist and indirectly as a parasympathomimetic. Stimulation of the serotonin receptors increases acetylcholine release in the enteric nervous system. It has been sold under the trade names Prepulsid (Janssen-Ortho) and Propulsid (in the United States). It was discovered by Janssen Pharmaceuticals in 1980. In many countries, it has been either withdrawn from the market or had its indications limited due to incidence of serious cardiac side-effects. Propulsid was linked to children's deaths. The commercial preparations of this drug are the racemic mixture of both enantiomers of the compound.
