Teodor Kračun
Teodor Dimitrijević ( sr-cyr, Теодор Димитријевић; 1730–10 April 1781), known as Teodor Kračun (Теодор Крачун) was a Serbian icon and altar painter. Biography He was born at Sremska Kamenica in 1730. His original surname was Dimitrijević, but later the nickname "Kračun" stuck. He studied art under Dimitrije Bačević, a well-known icon- and portrait painter, before taking monastic vows and entering the Vienna Academy in 1769. During his lifetime he produced numerous icons and altarpieces that are still extant today in Serbian Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches and cathedrals throughout the province of Vojvodina. He was an acknowledged master of the Baroque period, considered the first great modern Serbian painter, and the most renowned of the Baroque and Rococo painting style in northern Serbia. Sremska Kamenica (Serbian Cyrillic: ''Сремска Каменица'', ) is a town and urban neighborhood of Novi Sad, in Serbia. Name In Serbian, the town is known as ''Sremska Kamenica'' (Сремска Каменица), in Croatian as ''Srijemska Kamenica'', in Hungarian as ''Kamánc'', and in German as ''Kamenitz''. Sremski Karlovci ( sr-cyrl, Сремски Карловци, ; hu, Karlóca; tr, Karlofça) is a town and municipality located in the South Bačka District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. Novo Hopovo Monastery
The Novo Hopovo Monastery ( sr, Манастир Ново Хопово, Manastir Novo Hopovo) is a Serb Orthodox monastery on the Fruška Gora mountain in northern Serbia, in the province of Vojvodina. According to tradition, the monastery was built by the Despots of the House of Branković. The first written mention of the monastery was made in 1451, and the latest mention of the monastery dates back to 1641. The extant church was erected in 1576 and the bell-tower with the small St. Stephen's Chapel upstairs was built between 1751 and 1758. The monastic residences were constructed in several stages, from 1728 until 1771. The icons were painted in 1776 by Teodor Kračun. The Novo Hopovo Monastery was declared Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1990, and it is protected by the Republic of Serbia. Saint Sava ( sr, Свети Сава, Sveti Sava, ; Old Church Slavonic: ; gr, Άγιος Σάββας; 1169 or 1174 – 14 January 1236), known as the Enlightener, was a Serbian prince and Orthodox monk, the first Archbishop of the autocephalous Serbian Church, the founder of Serbian law, and a diplomat. Pavle Nenadović ( sr-cyr, Павле Ненадовић, ; 1703–1768) was the Serbian Orthodox Church, Serbian Orthodox Archbishop and Metropolitan of Karlovci from 1749 to 1768. Biography Pavle Nenadović was born on 14 January 1703 in Budim, Hungary. At the age of eighteen, he was employed as a clerk in the Budim Magistrates Office. He became a Serbian Orthodox cleric in 1726, after which he took monastic vows in the Rakovac Monastery. In 1737, Serbian Patriarch Arsenije IV Jovanović Šakabenta, Arsenije IV appointed Pavle as his general exarch, and in 1742 the patriarch appointed him as the bishop of the Eparchy of upper Karlovac. Arsenije IV also commissioned Pavle Nenadović, a cleric who was by then well-known as a poet, to compose a heraldic handbook, ''Stemmatographia'' (meaning "the drawing of ancestry" in Greek). The Gallery of Matica Srpska ( sr, Galerija Matice Srpske, italics=yes, sr-Cyrl, Галерија Матице Српске) is one of the largest and oldest galleries in Serbia. It is located in the central zone of Novi Sad, next to Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection. The Gallery was established on the 14th of October 1847, with contributions from Sava Tekelija who left a valuable family portrait collection to the Matica Srpska, and other Serb merchants who made endowments and donations to the gallery.
