Tennis
Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to manoeuvre the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball validly will not gain a point, while the opposite player will. Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society and at all ages. The sport can be played by anyone who can hold a racket, including wheelchair users. The modern game of tennis originated in Birmingham, England, in the late 19th century as lawn tennis. International Tennis Federation
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is the governing body of world tennis, wheelchair tennis, and beach tennis. Mirko Petrović (politician)
Mirko Petrović ( sr-Cyrl, Мирко Петровић; born 1965) is a Serbian businessman, sports executive and former politician. He was the CEO of one of the largest Serbian companies, the Dunav Insurance Company. Biography He was a member of the Founding Committee of the Democratic Party in December 1989. He was the youngest Member of Parliament of Serbia, elected on the Democratic Party list in December 1990, and was an elected member of the Executive Committee and the General Committee of the Democratic Party (1990–92). He then left the Democratic Party with the pro-DEPOS coalition wing and was one of the founders of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) in July 1992. He was elected Chairman of the DSS Executive Committee between 1992 and 1996 and was elected the Deputy Chairman of the DSS (1996-1998). Radoman Božović ( sr, Радоман Божовић; born 13 January 1953) is a Serbian politician and former Prime Minister of Serbia. Biography Božović was born in Šipačno, Montenegro in 1953. He completed grades 1-3 of elementary school in Nikšić. After elementary school he moved to Serbia, and completed secondary education in Vrbas. In 1975, he graduated from the University of Subotica, School of Economics, where he got a job as an assistant. Slobodan "Bobo" Živojinović ( sr-cyr, Слободан Живојиновић, ; born 23 July 1963) is a Serbian former professional tennis player who competed for SFR Yugoslavia. Together with Nenad Zimonjić, he is the only tennis player from Serbia to be the world No. 1 in doubles. Serbia Davis Cup Team
The Serbian men's national tennis team represents Serbia in the Davis Cup and the ATP Cup, both tennis competitions. Since June 2006, the team has played under the name of Serbia, following the split of Yugoslavia. Serbia won the Davis Cup title for the first and only time in 2010, defeating France with 3:2 in the final as host nation. The Serbian Billie Jean King Cup team represents Serbia in Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Tennis Federation of Serbia.
