Edith Hannam
Edith Margaret Hannam (''née'' Boucher; 28 November 1878 – 16 January 1951) was a female tennis player from Great Britain. She played at the 1912 Summer Olympics and won two gold medals. Family life Edith Margaret Boucher was born in Bristol, Gloucestershire on 28 November 1878, the daughter of John and Julia Boucher, her father was a pharmaceutical chemist. Boucher married Francis John Hannam at Long Ashton in 1909, as a Captain in the Gloucestershire Regiment he was killed in action in France on 5 July 1916. Tennis career In 1909 at the tennis tournament in Cincinnati Masters, Cincinnati, Hannam won the singles and mixed doubles titles and was a doubles finalist. She beat Martha Kinsey in the final for the singles title, paired with Julius Frieberg to reach the doubles final, and teamed with Lincoln Mitchell to win the mixed doubles title. Sofie Castenschiold
Thora Gerda Sofie Castenschiold (1 February 1882 – 30 January 1979) was a Danish tennis player at the beginning of the 20th century. She was the first woman to represent Denmark at the Olympics. The 1912 Summer Olympics ( sv, Olympiska sommarspelen 1912), officially known as the Games of the V Olympiad ( sv, Den V olympiadens spel) and commonly known as Stockholm 1912, were an international multi-sport event held in Stockholm, Sweden, between 5 May and 22 July 1912. Twenty-eight nations and 2,408 competitors, including 48 women, competed in 102 events in 14 sports. With the exception of tennis (starting on 5 May) and football and shooting (both starting on 29 June), the games were held within a month with an official opening on 6 July. It was the last Olympics to issue solid gold medals and, with Japan's debut, the first time an Asian nation participated. Stockholm was the only bid for the games, and was selected in 1909. At the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden eight tennis events were contested divided over two tournaments; an indoor covered courts tournament, played on wood, held from May 5 until May 12 and an outdoor hard court tournament, played on clay, held from June 28 until July 5. Marie Decugis (7 August 1884 – 4 May 1969; née ''Flameng''; also ''Décugis'') was a French tennis player. Life Marie was born in 1884 the daughter of painter François Flameng (1856–1923) and his wife Marguerite Henriette Augusta (née Turquet; 1863–1919). She married the successful tennis player Max Decugis on 15 May 1905, at Paris. The couple had a daughter, Christiane Omer-Decugis (1909–1974). Decugis won the title in mixed doubles, along with her husband, at the 1906 Intercalated Games at Athens. She played at the Wimbledon Championships in 1912 and 1920, but lost her initial match on both occasions.
