Tennessee State Route 52
State Route 52 (SR 52) is an east–west state highway that crosses eight counties in northern and northeastern Tennessee. The route originates in Orlinda along SR 49 and ends in Elgin along U.S. Route 27 (US 27). SR 52 is mostly a primary route, but becomes secondary west of I-65. Between Celina and Livingston it is part of Corridor J of the Appalachian Development Highway System. Route description In the border counties SR 52 begins as a secondary state route in Orlinda at SR 49 in Robertson County. It begins an eastward trek and junctions with I-65 (Exit 117) west of Portland. A short distance later, it junctions with US 31W ( SR 41) and enters Sumner County. Once it does so, it becomes a primary route. SR 52 then enters Portland and has an Intersection with SR 109. Kentucky Route 163 (KY 163) is a state highway that traverses through two counties in south-central Kentucky. It runs from Tennessee State Route 51 at the Kentucky-Tennessee border south of Hestand to U.S. Route 68, Kentucky Route 80, and East Stockton Street in Edmonton via Tompkinsville. Route description The highway starts at the Tennessee state line in southern Monroe County on the road where going south, it continues as Tennessee State Route 51. KY 163 then heads southeast passing through Hestand before reaching the city of Tompkinsville, where it meets KY 100 and KY 63. KY 163 then enters Metcalfe County, and crosses KY 90 at Beaumont. Monroe County is a county located in the Eastern Pennyroyal Plateau region of the U.S. state of Kentucky. Its county seat is Tompkinsville. The county is named for President James Monroe. It is a prohibition or dry county. History Monroe County is the only county of the 3,144 in the United States named for a President where the county seat is named for his Vice-President. The county was formed in 1820; and named for James Monroe the fifth President, author of the Monroe Doctrine. The county seat was named for Daniel Tompkins. They both served from 1817 to 1825.
