Tennessee State Route 189
State Route 189 (SR 189) is a short north–south state highway in Crockett County, Tennessee, connecting the towns of Maury City and Friendship. Route description SR 189 begins at a Y-intersection with SR 88 in the eastern part of Maury City. It passes through neighborhoods as it heads northwest, then north, to bypass downtown. The highway then leaves Maury City and heads through farmland and rural areas to have an intersection with Reynolds Road, a connector to SR 152. SR 189 continues north through farmland to enter the Friendship city limits, where it comes to an end at an interchange with US 412/ SR 20. Maury City, Tennessee
Maury City is a town in Crockett County, Tennessee. The population was 674 at the 2010 census. Locals pronounce the town's name as "Murray City." History Maury City is named for congressman and state legislator Abram Poindexter Maury (1801–1848). The city incorporated in 1911. Charles P. Roland, historian of the Civil War and the American South, was born in Maury City in 1918. Friendship is a city in Crockett County, Tennessee. The population was 668 at the 2010 census. Also used to be the location of Friendship High School before it was closed for consolidation Geography Friendship is located at (35.910370, -89.241827). Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 608 people, 246 households, and 171 families residing in the city. The population density was 466.4 people per square mile (180.6/km2). Crockett County, Tennessee
Crockett County is located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,911. Its county seat is Alamo. Crockett County is included in the Jackson, TN Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Crockett County was formed in 1871 from portions of Haywood, Madison, Dyer and Gibson counties. It is named in honor of David Crockett (1786–1836), frontier humorist, soldier, Tennessee state legislator and U.S. congressman, and defender of the Alamo. In 1876, in what apparently was a political rivalry gone bad, Crockett County Sheriff R. G. Harris and 19 other unidentified men removed four black men from the county jail and beat them, killing one of them. The sheriff was arrested. In ''United States v. Harris'' (1883), the Supreme Court ruled that the Sheriff could not be prosecuted under federal law.

State Route 88 (SR 88) is a west-east state highway in West Tennessee. The route traverses Lauderdale County, Tennessee, Lauderdale and Crockett County, Tennessee, Crockett Counties. State Route 152 (SR 152) is a east-west state highway traversing the flat farmland of West Tennessee. Route description SR 152 begins in Crockett County in Cairo at an interchange with US 412/ SR 20, where the road continues west 1.75 miles as Reynolds Road to SR 189. Some maps erroneously label this as Nichols Road, even though this is incorrect. It goes east to have an intersection with SR 188 before leaving the community and continuing through rural areas, where it has an intersection with SR 54, before crossing into Gibson County.
