State Route 187 (SR 187) is a 7.8 mile long east-west state highway in Gibson County, Tennessee Route description SR 187 begins just outside the Humboldt city limits at an intersection with US 70A/US 79/ SR 76. It goes east through rural farmland to have a short concurrency with SR 186 just south of the town of Gibson. It continues east, then northeast, through farmland and rural areas to enter the Milan city limits, where it passes through some industrial areas before SR 187 comes to an end at an intersection with US 45E/ SR 43 just south of downtown. Humboldt is a city in Gibson and Madison counties, Tennessee. The population was 8,452 at the 2010 census, a decline of 1,015 from 2000. It is the principal city of and is included in the Humboldt, Tennessee Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Jackson, Tennessee-Humboldt, Tennessee Combined Statistical Area. History The first settlers of what would become Humboldt, began moving into the area in the mid 1850s. The town was a Railroad town. Its history begins with the Crossing of the Mobile & Ohio and the Memphis & Ohio (later L&N) Railroads. This was completed in 1859. The town wasn't chartered until after the Civil War in 1866. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 305 people, 114 households, and 84 families residing in the town. The population density was 560.7 people per square mile (218.1/km2). There were 131 housing units at an average density of 240.8 per square mile (93.7/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 91.80% White, 4.59% African American, 1.97% Native American, 0.33% Asian, and 1.31% from two or more races. Milan, Tennessee
Milan () is the second largest city after Humboldt in Gibson County, Tennessee and the largest entirely within the county. It is home to the Milan Army Ammunition Plant, the West Tennessee Agricultural Museum and several historical sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The city was the first in Tennessee to begin no-till farming and to fluoridate its drinking water. The Milan Endowment for Growth in Academics (MEGA) was the first private community financial endowment for public schools in Tennessee. Gibson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2010 census, the population was 49,683. Its county seat is Trenton. The county was formed in 1823 and named for John H. State Route 76 (SR 76) is a state highway in Tennessee, traversing the state in a northeast-southwest axis from east of Memphis to north of Nashville. SR 76 is unique in that it actually changes its cardinal directions (from North-South to East-West) in Clarksville at the junction with US 41A and US 41A Bypass.
