Mississippi Central Railroad (reporting mark MSCI) is a short line railroad operating over 51 miles from Oxford, Mississippi, to Grand Junction, Tennessee, owned by Pioneer Railcorp. The railroad's principal commodities are wood products and fertilizer. The MSCI offers connections to the BNSF Railway in Holly Springs and Norfolk Southern Railway in Grand Junction. In 2013 the Mississippi Central purchased the Redmont Railway. In 2015 the Mississippi Central purchased the Tishomingo Railroad near Iuka, Mississippi. Tennessee State Route 368
State Route 368 (SR 368) is a Tennessee designated state route in Grand Junction, Tennessee. It is approximately 1.7 miles long. Route description SR 368 begins as a fork in the road from SR 18 just north of town and travels nearly due south, intercepting Old Grand Junction Road and Summit Street. From this point it runs slightly parallel to the rarely used Mississippi Central Railroad and Tippah Street. State Route 5 (SR 5) is a north–south state highway in the western part of the U.S. state of Tennessee. Except for the section northwest of Union City, it is entirely concurrent with U.S. Route 45 (US 45) and US 45W. Route description McNairy County SR 5 begins in McNairy County as the hidden designation for US 45 at the Mississippi state line just north of Corinth. Medon, Tennessee
Medon is a city in Madison County, Tennessee. It is included in the Jackson, Tennessee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 178 at the 2010 census. Geography Medon is located on State Route 18 between Jackson and Bolivar, north of Chickasaw State Park and north-northwest of Deanburg, at . History By 1886, about three hundred people were living in the area of Medon, which was formed along the Illinois Central Railroad ten miles south of Jackson; a high school had been incorporated there in 1881 and the area was surrounded by a rich agricultural community. The school was incorporated into South Side High School in 1956. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 191 people, 78 households, and 60 families residing in the city. Diamond Interchange
A diamond interchange is a common type of road junction, used where a controlled-access highway crosses a minor road. Design The freeway itself is grade-separated from the minor road, one crossing the other over a bridge. Approaching the interchange from either direction, an off-ramp diverges only slightly from the freeway and runs directly across the minor road, becoming an on-ramp that returns to the freeway in similar fashion. The two places where the ramps meet the road are treated as conventional intersections. In the United States, where this form of interchange is very common, particularly in rural areas, traffic on the off-ramp typically faces a stop sign at the minor road, while traffic turning onto the freeway is unrestricted. The diamond interchange uses less space than most types of freeway interchange, and avoids the interweaving traffic flows that occur in interchanges such as the cloverleaf. In civil engineering (more specifically highway engineering), grade separation is a method of aligning a junction of two or more surface transport axes at different heights (grades) so that they will not disrupt the traffic flow on other transit routes when they cross each other. The composition of such transport axes does not have to be uniform; it can consist of a mixture of roads, footpaths, railways, canals, or airport runways. Bridges (or overpasses, also called flyovers), tunnels (or underpasses), or a combination of both can be built at a junction to achieve the needed grade separation. State Route 100 (SR 100) is a west–east state highway in both West Tennessee and Middle Tennessee that connects Whiteville with Nashville. It is long. Route description Hardeman County SR 100 begins as a primary highway in West Tennessee in Hardeman County at an intersection with US 64/SR 15 in Whiteville. Then SR 100 leaves Whiteville heading east but slightly northward before crossing the Hatchie River. SR 100 then has an intersection with SR 138 just north of Toone. Tennessee State Route 138
State Route 138 (SR 138) is a state highway in West Tennessee, connecting the town of Toone with Interstate 40 (I-40). Route description SR 138 begins in Hardeman County at an intersection with SR 18. It goes northwest through wooded areas to enter Toone, where it passes through town along Main Street before having an intersection with SR 100. The highway then leaves Toone and continues northwest through mostly wooded areas to cross into Madison County. SR 138 continues north through farmland to have an intersection with SR 223 before passing Mercer. It continues north through farmland and rural areas for several miles to an intersection with US 70/ SR 1 before coming to an end at an interchange with I-40 (Exit 68), where the road continues north as Providence Road. Chickasaw State Park is a state park located in Chester County, Tennessee, in the Southeastern United States. The park consists of 1,280 acres (5 km²) amidst a 14,384 acres (58 km²) state forest, and includes Lake Placid, Lake Lajoie, and some of West Tennessee's highest areas. History Chickasaw State Park was named for the Chickasaw Indians who once inhabited West Tennessee and Northern Mississippi. Located in west Tennessee along the border of Hardeman and Chester Counties was 1,400 acres of land that was considered to be one of Tennessee's 20 new Deal-era state parks.
