Tenkasi Taluk
Tenkasi taluk is a taluk of Tenkasi district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The headquarters is the town of Tenkasi. In addition to the headquarters town, the taluk includes the towns of Aygudi, Courtalam, Ilanji, Kadayanallur, Melagaram, Sambavar Vadagarai and Sundarapandiapuram as well as some twenty-five villages. Demographics According to the 2011 census, the taluk of Tenkasi had a population of 399,823 with 199,317 males and 200,506 females. There were 1,006 women for every 1,000 men. A tehsil (, also known as tahsil, taluka, or taluk) is a local unit of administrative division in some countries of South Asia. It is a subdistrict of the area within a district including the designated populated place that serves as its administrative centre, with possible additional towns, and usually a number of villages. Tenkasi District
Tenkasi is one of the 38 districts of Tamil Nadu, India, separated from Tirunelveli district on 22 November 2019. The Government of Tamil Nadu announced its creation on 18 July 2019. The district headquarters is at Tenkasi. Geography The district shares borders with Tirunelveli district in the south, Virudhunagar district in the north, Thoothukudi district in the east and Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts of Kerala in the west. The western part of the district runs along the Western Ghats, while the east is mainly flat plains. Tenkasi is a town and headquarters of the Tenkasi district in Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Courtallam is a panchayat town situated at a mean elevation of in the foothills of the Western Ghats in Tenkasi district of Tamil Nadu, India. Ilanji is a panchayat town in Tenkasi district, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located between the towns Tenkasi and Shencottah. Geography The word 'Ilanji' has a number of meanings including a water body. The village has three lakes very close to it. This is the only place which receives both south-west and north-east monsoon. Geographically, Ilanji is the centroid of a triangle whose three corners are the towns of Senkottai, Courtallam and Tenkasi, each of which is located approximately from Ilanji.
