Tenille Campbell
Tenille K. Campbell is a Dene and Métis poet and a photographer from English River First Nation. Education She holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of British Columbia; where she studied with Richard Van Camp. Her MFA dissertation was titled ''Nuniyé Tehlgh-th : land of the wolf'', and was a "young adult novel tells the story of Kelly Estatheneh, a young Dene woman living at the English River First Nation reserve in Northern Saskatchewan." As of November 2017, she is a PhD candidate in the Department of English at the University of Saskatchewan. Her PhD research is focused on Indigenous Literature. Career Her artistic works often focus on Indigenous people in Canada. She is the owner of Sweetmoon Photography that specializes in capturing photographs of Indigenous people. Dene People
The Dene people () are an indigenous group of First Nations who inhabit the northern boreal and Arctic regions of Canada. The Dene speak Northern Athabaskan languages. ''Dene'' is the common Athabaskan word for "people". The term "Dene" has two usages. More commonly, it is used narrowly to refer to the Athabaskan speakers of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut in Canada, especially including the Chipewyan (Denesuline), Tlicho (''Dogrib''), Yellowknives (T'atsaot'ine), Slavey (Deh Gah Got'ine or Deh Cho), and Sahtu (the Eastern group in Jeff Leer's classification; part of the Northwestern Canada group in Keren Rice's classification). Métis Writers
The Métis ( ; Canadian ) are Indigenous peoples who inhabit Canada's three Prairie Provinces, as well as parts of British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, and the Northern United States. They have a shared history and culture which derives from specific mixed European (primarily French) and Indigenous ancestry which became a distinct culture through ethnogenesis by the mid-18th century, during the early years of the North American fur trade.
