Tenaya Phillips
Tenaya Edith Phillips (born 20 June 1994) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Perth Lynx of the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). Professional career Phillips, a native of Dandenong, Victoria, moved to Canberra in 2011 to attend the Australian Institute of Sport. In 2012, she returned to Dandenong and joined the Dandenong Rangers SEABL team, where she helped the team win a title. For the 2012–13 season, Phillips joined the WNBL's Dandenong Rangers. She managed just one appearance during the 2012–13 season. After two more seasons in the SEABL, Phillips re-joined the WNBL's Dandenong Rangers for the 2014–15 season. Following the WNBL season, she helped the SEABL Rangers win the 2015 title. In 2015–16, Phillips had her best WNBL season, as she averaged 3.5 points and 1.6 rebounds in 18 games. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. 2015–16 WNBL Season
The 2015–16 WNBL season is the 36th season of competition since its establishment in 1981. A total of 9 teams contested the league. The regular season was played between October 2015 and February 2016, followed by a post-season involving the top four on 28 February to 18 March 2016. The Townsville Fire were the defending champions and they would go on to repeat their run to the WNBL title, defeating the Perth Lynx 2–0 in the final. Sponsorship included Wattle Valley, entering its third year as league naming rights sponsor. Spalding provided equipment including the official game ball, with Peak supplying team apparel. The 2016–17 WNBL season is the 37th season of competition since its establishment in 1981. The regular season begins on October 7, 2016 when the Sydney Uni Flames host the Perth Lynx and is scheduled to conclude on February 19, 2017. Townsville Fire were the two-time defending champions, but they were defeated by the Sydney Uni Flames in the Semifinals. The Flames would go on to take home their fourth WNBL title, their first in sixteen years, after defeating the Dandenong Rangers in the final.
