Ten Thirteen Productions is a production company founded by Chris Carter in 1993, which produced four television series and two films (''The X-Files'' and '' The X-Files: I Want to Believe''). The company was named after Carter's birthday, October 13. The Ten Thirteen offices are located in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, California. With the success of ''The X-Files'' continuously growing, in 1996 the company embarked on a new series; ''Millennium''. The series lasted for three seasons. In 1998, they released a film simply titled ''The X-Files'', which grossed $189,198,313. In 1999, as ''Millennium'' was canceled, a third series was put into production, ''Harsh Realm''. Chris Carter (screenwriter)
Christopher Carl Carter (born October 13, 1956) is an American television and film producer, director and writer who gained fame in the 1990s as the creator of the Fox science fiction supernatural drama series ''The X-Files''. Born in Bellflower, California, Carter graduated with a degree in journalism from California State University, Long Beach before spending thirteen years working for '' Surfing Magazine''. After beginning his television career working on television films for Walt Disney Studios, Carter rose to fame in 1993 for creating ''The X-Files''. The show earned high viewership ratings, and eventually led to Carter's being able to negotiate the creation of future series. ''Millennium'' is an American television series created by Chris Carter (creator of ''The X-Files''), which aired on Fox from October 25, 1996, to May 21, 1999. ''Harsh Realm'' is an American science fiction television series about humans trapped inside a virtual reality simulation. It was developed by Chris Carter, creator of ''The X-Files'' and ''Millennium'', and began airing on the Fox Network on October 8, 1999. The series fared poorly in the ratings and was removed from the schedule after three of its nine episodes had aired. The remaining six episodes premiered on the FX Network. Repeats of the series began airing Fall 2007 on CBC Country Canada. The term "harsh realm" originates from the " grunge speak" hoax of 1992, in which it meant 'bummer'.
