Templeogue Basketball Club
Templeogue Basketball Club is an Irish basketball club based in Dublin. The club has teams competing in Dublin Leagues and National Competitions, with the senior men's representative team, Griffith College Templeogue, playing in the Irish Super League. History Templeogue Basketball Club was established in 1976 by a group of Past Pupils from Templeogue College. It was not until 2012 that a senior men's team entered one of Ireland's national competitions. For the 2012–13 season, Templeogue entered the National League Division 1 and made their debut on 29 September 2012 against Ulster Elks. After losing their season opener, they won their first match two weeks later. Between October and February, Templeogue remained unbeaten thanks to American import Isaac Gordon. UCC Demons are an Irish basketball team based in Cork. The team competes in the Super League and plays its home games at Mardyke Arena. The team is a division of Blue Demons Basketball Club and is directly associated with the University College Cork. History Early years In 1959, a youth club known as De Paul Boys Club was established in Sunday's Well, Cork as a means for boys to play indoor sports between September and April. Éanna Basketball Club is an Irish basketball club based in Dublin. The club's senior men's representative team, DBS Éanna, is currently a member of Ireland's top national league, the Super League. The club has an academy for ages 5–9 years and teams from U10–U20 plus teams in the Dublin Men's Basketball League. Belfast Star is a basketball team based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The team competes in the Super League and plays its home games at De La Salle College. The team is a division of Belfast Star Basketball Club and is the only team in the Super League based in Northern Ireland. Tralee Warriors Basketball Club, also known as Garvey's Tralee Warriors for sponsorship reasons, is an Irish basketball club based in Tralee that currently consists of a men's team that competes in the Super League, as well as an Under 20s side. Their home arena is the Tralee Sports Complex. History In May 2016, a new Tralee basketball team was inducted into the Super League for the 2016–17 season. The team came about after a collaboration between local clubs Tralee Imperials and St Brendan's. Tralee's return to National League basketball, having previously hosted a team called Tralee Tigers, brought with it one of Ireland's best known basketball players, Kieran Donaghy. Swords Thunder was an Irish basketball team based in Dublin. The team competed in the Super League and played its home games at the ALSAA Sports Complex. History Dublin Thunder In 2010, Dublin Thunder Basketball Club was founded. The following year, founder member Dave Baker became the inaugural coach of club's senior men's representative team. Aligned with Dublin Business School, Baker applied for national league status, but rulings required them to have played at least one year at local level before playing in the national league.
