Teltschik
The ethnically German Teltschik family forms an uninterrupted lineage which dates back to 1301 and which for nearly six hundred years held a hereditary judgeship in their historic homestead of Zauchtel. Formerly part of the Austrian Empire, Zauchtel is in the Sudetenland and is now part the Province of Moravia in the Czech Republic. As a celebration of 700 years of family history, the Teltschik Tower was erected in 2001 near Wilhelmsfeld, Germany. There is also a memorial at the Masonic Cemetery in Weimar, Texas commemorating the immigration of three Teltschik brothers to the rolling hills of Central and Southeast Texas in the latter part of the nineteenth century, part of a greater wave of German and Czech immigration to that region. Alfred Teltschik
Alfred Teltschik (April 21, 1919 – May 19, 2009) was an American duo pianist and teacher. He was born in Floresville, Texas to Frank and Lenora Teltschik. Alfred attended the Juilliard School of music, where he studied principally with Olga Samaroff. After his debut at Carnegie Hall, he began a duo-piano concert tour with his brother Herbert Teltschik (April 2, 1918 – January 19, 2013), for Herbert Teltschik. Teltschik Tower
Teltschik Tower is a 41-metre-high observation tower built of wood in Wilhelmsfeld, Germany. The tower was built by Walter Teltschik, a citizen of Wilhelmsfeld, in remembrance of his origins in the Kuhländchen near Brno, a part of the former Sudetenland (modern-day Czech Republic). Wilhelmsfeld is a municipality in the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Geography Wilhelmsfeld is a state-certified climatic health resort in the hills of the southern Odenwald, between 260 and 533m above sea-level. The surrounding communities are Heidelberg, Schriesheim, Heiligkreuzsteinach, and Schönau. History Wilhelmsfeld was established in 1710, when Johann Wilhelm, prince-elector of the Electorate of the Palatinate, granted five farmers from the Steinach river valley the right to settle there. Hamm (, Latin: ''Hammona'') is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located in the northeastern part of the Ruhr area. As of 2016 its population was 179,397. The city is situated between the A1 motorway and A2 motorway. Hamm railway station is an important hub for rail transport and renowned for its distinctive station building. Suchdol nad Odrou (german: Zauchtenthal, Zauchtel) is a market town in Nový Jičín District in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,700 inhabitants. Administrative parts The village of Kletné is an administrative part of Suchdol nad Odrou. History The first written mention of Suchdol is from 1257. The village was founded by Slavic settlers in the early 13th century. The population of German nationality gradually prevailed.
