Tello (bishop Of Chur)
Tello (died 24 September probably 765) was the Bishop of Chur from 758/759 until his death. He was the last member of the ecclesiastical dynasty of the Victorids to wield power in Rhaetia through his control of the bishopric. His will is one of the earliest surviving records from Graubünden and is an important source for the history of Rhaetia in the eighth century. According to his will, dated 15 December 765, and the ''Liber de feodis'' of 1388, he was a son of Victor, the ''praeses'' of Rhaetia, and his wife Teusenda. It is also mentioned in the will that he had brothers and sisters, though they are left unnamed. His episcopate can be demonstrated from 759 and he held, concurrently, the title of ''praeses'', which had been his father's. He thus held both the spiritual and the temporal authority in the province. He is mentioned in the ''Vita sancti Galli'' of Walafrid Strabo under the year 759 or 760. Tello Pérez de Meneses (died ) was a Castilian magnate and military leader under the reign of King Alfonso VIII of Castile, and the ancestor of the Téllez de Meneses, a prominent noble lineage, whose descendants include several royal members such as Queen María de Molina, Tello's great-granddaughter, and Leonor Telles de Meneses, queen consort of Portugal. Tello participated in several military campaigns during the Reconquista and subsequent ''Repoblación'', and was also a generous founder and patron of monasteries and hospitals for captives and lepers. Together with the Girón, the Téllez de Meneses were among the most influential and powerful aristocratic groups in Tierra de Campos. Tello Téllez de Meneses (1170 – 1246) was the bishop of Palencia from 1208 until his death. He was a member of a prominent family from Meneses de Campos, Meneses in the Tierra de Campos. His father was Tello Pérez de Meneses; his mother, Gontrodo García, founders of the monastery of Santa María de Matallana. A Palencian cultural institute, the Institución Tello Téllez de Meneses, bears his name. In 1208, with the support of King Alfonso VIII of Castile, Tello founded the University of Palencia as a ''studium generale'', a place of general study. He protected the friar and itinerant preacher Pedro González Telmo and offered to admit him to the university. Tello Alfonso of Castile (1337 – October 1370) was the seventh of the ten illegitimate children of Alfonso XI of Castile and Eleanor of Guzman. He was a prince of Castile and First Lord of Aguilar de Campoo. In Spanish he is known as ''Tello de Castilla, Infante de Castilla; Señor de Aguilar de Campoo, de Vizcaya, de Castañeda y de Lara''. Tello is a town and municipality in the Huila Department, Colombia. It is characterized by its extensive plain between the Magdalena River and the foot of the Cordillera Oriental (Colombia), Cordillera Oriental mountain range up to its peaks, with the Fortalecillas and Villavieja rivers located nearby. Its territorial extension is 589 km², its altitude is 575 meters above sea level and its climate is warm with an average temperature of 26°C. Girsu ( Sumerian ; cuneiform ) was a city of ancient Sumer, situated some northwest of Lagash, at the site of modern Tell Telloh, Dhi Qar Governorate, Iraq. History Girsu was possibly inhabited in the Ubaid period (5300-4800 BC), but significant levels of activity began in the Early Dynastic period (2900-2335 BC). At the time of Gudea, during the Second Dynasty of Lagash, Girsu became the capital of the Lagash kingdom and continued to be its religious center after political power had shifted to city of Lagash. During the Ur III period, Girsu was a major administrative center for the empire. After the fall of Ur, Girsu declined in importance, but remained inhabited until approximately 200 BC.
