Television in Austria was introduced in 1955. The country uses DVB-T for broadcasting. Analog television was completely shut down on 7 June 2011. Austrian television was monopolised by government-owned television stations until 1996. The first private television station in Austria was ATV. MTV Austria was an Austrian free-to-air television channel, launched as a localised subfeed of MTV Germany MTV Germany is a German language free-to-air television channel operated by Paramount Global. ProSieben
ProSieben (, ''sieben'' is German for "seven"; often stylized as Pro7) is a German free-to-air television network owned by ProSiebenSat.1 Media. It was launched on 1 January 1989. It is Germany's second-largest privately owned television company. Although ProSieben produces some of its programming itself, it also airs many American imports. On 3 May 2012, the network launched a pay-TV channel called ProSieben Fun. A third channel called ProSieben Maxx started broadcasting on 3 September 2013. The three different feeds of the channel are: ProSieben (for Germany), ProSieben Austria (for Austria), and ProSieben Schweiz (for Switzerland and Liechtenstein). The main difference is that they have different advertisements and news for each target country. The channel uses an English slogan: "We love to entertain you." FS1 (Television)
FS1 (or FS1 - Community TV Salzburg) is a non-commercial community television channel in Salzburg (Austria). Next to the Community TV ''okto'' in Vienna and ''dorf i''n Linz, it is the third non-commercial broadcaster with a 24-hour full (as opposed to specialized) program in Austria. Since the launch on 16 February 2012, the channel has been broadcasting via DVB-C in many areas of the state of Salzburg. Over IPTV, the station is available nationwide. History The original idea and an impulse to create FS1 was given by the Salzburg free radio station Radiofabrik. The project was introduced to the public in 2009 and designed on the legal basis of the Non-Commercial Radio and Television Broadcasting Funding Initiative (NKRF) of the Austrian Republic, created in 2010. Sky Krimi
Sky Krimi is a German television channel dedicated to crime series. It mostly features original German language productions. It started out as "Krimi & Co" on the DF1 satellite platform when it launched. DF1 had several channels dedicated to television series, including soap channel Herz & Co and comedy channel Comedy & Co. When DF1 became Premiere World in October 1999, the sister channels were rebranded. In May 2002, Krimi & Co was renamed "Premiere Krimi". On 4 July 2009, the channel became "Sky Krimi" and was moved back to the entertainment package from the film package. On 1 April 2021, Sky Deutschland will launch a local version of crime factual channel Sky Crime; this will coexist with the fiction-led Sky Krimi, in the same way that the British version of Sky Crime exists alongside fiction-led Sky Witness.
