Television Addict
"Television Addict" was the A-side of the debut single by The Victims, an early punk rock band from Perth, Western Australia. The song is a mainstay of compilations of Australian punk from the 1970s, and has been recorded by the Hoodoo Gurus, You Am I, The Hellacopters and Teengenerate. It was co-written by singer-guitarist Dave Faulkner (known at the time as Dave Flick) and drummer James Baker. The slow, menacing, bass line, played by Rudolph V (Dave Cardwell), is also a prominent feature of the recording. The Victims released the single independently in late 1977 or early 1978 (sources vary), with "I'm Flipped Out Over You" on the B-side. Lyrically, "Television Addict" revolves around a youth "who went out and shot someone", and whose lawyer then attributes his actions to violence on television: "blame the ratings for his crime." The Victims (Perth Band)
The Victims were an Australian punk band from Perth, Western Australia, active from 1977 to 1979. The founding mainstay members were James Baker on drums, Dave Flick (Dave Faulkner) on guitar and vocals, and Rudolph V (Dave Cardwell) on bass guitar. Their debut single, "Television Addict", was issued in April 1978 and was followed by a five-track extended play, ''The Victims'', in August of that year. The group disbanded early in the next year. In 1989 Timberyard Records released a compilation album, ''All Loud on the Western Front'', of their material. In late 2014 and early 2015 Baker and Faulkner were joined by Ray Ahn (of Hard-Ons) as the Television Addicts to perform the Victims material. The 2014 and 2015 shows were so well received that the trio assumed the band name The Victims and played sold-out shows at Rosemount Hotel and Mojo's Bar. Teengenerate were a Japanese punk rock band from 1993 to 1996, known for their fun style of playing garage punk A garage is a covered structure built for the purpose of parking, storing, protecting, maintaining, and/or repairing vehicles. ''Crank'' is the sixth studio album by Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus. It was released in February 1994 and peaked at number 2 on the ARIA charts. The album was produced by Ed Stasium (Ramones, Living Colour, The Smithereens), who had mixed Hoodoo Gurus previous studio album, '' Kinky'' in 1991. It was the band's first release on Zoo Records. EMI re-released the album on 6 February 2005 with an additional nine bonus tracks, a fold out poster and liner notes by Andy Strachan (The Living End). ''Dinah!'' is a daytime variety talk show that was hosted by singer and actress Dinah Shore. The series was distributed by 20th Century Fox Television and premiered on October 21, 1974, in syndication. In 1979, the show became known as ''Dinah and Friends'' and remained so until it ended its run in 1980. The show's announcer was Johnny Gilbert. Like other syndicated talk/entertainment shows of the day, such as ''The Merv Griffin Show'' and ''The Mike Douglas Show'', ''Dinah!'' was focused on celebrity interviews promoting recent motion pictures, books and other television programs. Rudolf V, Margrave of Baden-Pforzheim (died 28 August 1361) was a son of Margrave Rudolf IV (died 25 June 1348) and his second wife Maria of Oettingen (d. 10 June 1369). In 1348, he succeeded his father as Margrave of Baden-Pforzheim. Emperor Louis IV had in 1334 mortgaged Ortenburg Castle, the cities of Offenburg, Gengenbach and Zell am Harmersbach and the imperial possessions in the Ortenau area to his father. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. The Hellacopters
The Hellacopters are a Swedish garage rock band that was formed in 1994 by Nicke Andersson (vocals and guitar), Andreas Tyrone "Dregen" Svensson (guitar), Kenny Håkansson (bass) and Robert Eriksson (drums). Andersson (sometimes known as Nick Royale) had been the drummer for death metal band Entombed and Dregen was taking a break from his full-time band Backyard Babies. Dregen and Eriksson had been roadies for Entombed, while Håkansson was a childhood friend of Andersson's.
