Telephone numbers in North Korea are regulated by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. Area codes This is the official list as registered with ITU-T in 2011. Ministry Of Post And Telecommunications (North Korea)
The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications () is a government ministry in North Korea which is responsible for the North Korean postal service, telephone system, and media such as television and print press. Additionally, the ministry is responsible for mint stamps. In 2010, the ministry participated in a cyber-attack on South Korea using an IP address leased from China. The ministry is a member of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity. The current minister is Kim Kwang-chol. He was preceded by Sim Chol-ho, who was appointed to the post in February 2012. Rajin-guyok
Rajin-guyŏk () is a North Korean district on Rason in the Sea of Japan (East Sea of Korea) in the North Pacific Ocean on the northeast tip of North Korea. It is in the Kwanbuk region and location in the south of Rason. North of it lies the North Korea–Russia border. Transport Rajin Station is the terminus of both the P'yŏngra and Hambuk lines of the Korean State Railway. The Khasan–Rajin railway was opened in 1959, connecting the port of Rajin with the Russian Khasan on the Tumen River; the river is the natural North Korea–Russia border. The railway had been renewed between 2008-2013. Coal transport from North Korea to Khasan on the renewed line started in summer 2014. Kaesong Industrial Region
The Kaesŏng Industrial Region (KIR) or Kaesŏng Industrial Zone (KIZ) is a special administrative industrial region of North Korea (DPRK). It was formed in 2002 from part of the Kaesŏng Directly-Governed City. On 10 February 2016, it was temporarily closed by the South Korean government and all staff recalled by the Park Geun-hye administration, although the former President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, signalled his desire to "reopen and expand" the region in 2017. Its most notable feature is the Kaesŏng industrial park, which operated from 2004 to 2016 as a collaborative economic development with South Korea (ROK). The park is located ten kilometres (six miles) north of the Korean Demilitarized Zone, an hour's drive from Seoul, with direct road and rail access to South Korea. The Rason Special Economic Zone, earlier called the Rajin-Sonbong Economic Special Zone, was established in the early 1990s by the North Korean government near Rason to promote economic growth through foreign investment. It is similar to the Special Economic Zones set up by the People's Republic of China and elsewhere to pilot market economics in a designated controlled area. It is near the border with China and Russia and is a warm-water port for both countries. Chinese and Russian companies have invested in the economic zone. Mongolia has joined recently, and the use of foreign currency is permitted. Bloomberg reported that ground was broken in June 2011 on a further development stage of the zone. In November 2011, work began on building electricity transmission lines that will provide Chinese electricity supplies in the zone. The British Embassy Pyongyang is the British sovereign's diplomatic mission to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, representing the United Kingdom's interests. SunNet () was a North Korean telecommunications company that provided 2G GSM wireless services to Pyongyang. Founded in 2002, it was North Korea's first wireless provider.
