Telarc
Telarc International Corporation is an American audiophile independent record label founded in 1977 by two classically trained musicians and former teachers, Jack Renner and Robert Woods. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, the label has had a long association with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra, as well as with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Although it started as a classical music label, Telarc has released jazz, blues and country music recordings. In 1996, Telarc merged with another independent label, Heads Up, now a Telarc subsidiary. In late 2005 both Telarc and Heads Up were bought by Concord Records. Today both labels operate as semi-autonomous units in the Concord Music Group. Michael Joseph Bishop (June 14, 1951 – March 29, 2021) was an American recording engineer and record producer. 1972–1978, Bishop worked as a recording and mastering engineer at Cleveland Recording Company, Cleveland, Ohio. 1978–1988, Bishop was a recording & mastering engineer and studio manager at Suma Recording Studios, Painesville, Ohio. Bishop's first sessions for Telarc Records began in 1978 as a disk mastering engineer on the Lorin Maazel/Cleveland Orchestra direct-to-disk release: Direct From Cleveland, the first modern direct-to-disk orchestral recording. 1978-1988, Bishop worked as a freelance recording and mix engineer on a number of Telarc Records recording sessions. 1812 Overture
''The Year 1812, Solemn Overture'', Op. 49, popularly known as the ''1812 Overture'', is a concert overture in E major written in 1880 by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky to commemorate the successful Russian defense against Napoleon I's invading Grande Armée in 1812. The overture debuted in Moscow on , conducted by Ippolit Al'tani under a tent near the then-almost-finished Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, which also memorialised the 1812 defense of Russia.Felsenfeld, Daniel. Jack Renner (recording Engineer)
Jack Lee Renner (April 13, 1935 – June 19, 2019) was an American classically trained musician and recording engineer, best known as chairman, CEO and chief recording engineer of the Telarc International Corporation. Renner received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and completed graduate work at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He has worked as a professional trumpeter, recording engineering consultant, freelance recording engineer, high school music teacher and public speaker. Renner has received 20 Grammy Award nominations, winning eleven. Renner made his first recording on February 20, 1962. He pioneered the development of the digital recording process for jazz, classical and symphonic music. Heads Up International is a jazz record label that was formed in Cleveland, Ohio. It was bought by the Concord Music Group in 2005. History The label got its name from a jazz group that Dave Love formed while attending North Texas State University. After college, Love became musical director for Donald Byrd. Later, he recorded an album with his band and soprano saxophonist Dave Liebman. While trying to sell the album to record labels, he took a position as National Director of Sales & Marketing for Oxymoron P&D, where executives convinced him to start his own label with his album. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is an American orchestra based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The ASO's main concert venue is Atlanta Symphony Hall in the Woodruff Arts Center.
