Marhu Teferi
Marhu Teferi (or Teferi Marhu, he, מארו טפרי; born August 17, 1992) is an Ethiopian-born Israeli marathon and half marathon runner, silver medallist in marathon at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich. He represented Israel at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the Marathon. He also represented Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He has set Israeli records in both the marathon and half marathon. Biography Marhu Teferi was born in Ethiopia to a family of Ethiopian-Jewish background, and immigrated to Israel at the age of 14 along with most of his family. His wife Selamawit Dagnachew is an Ethiopian-born and an Israeli citizen on account of their marriage, is a mid- and long-distance runner who has also qualified to compete for Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Gibreab Teferi
Gibreab Teferi Dasta ( am, ግብረአብ ተፈሪ ደስታ; 1923 – 15 January 1988), also spelled Gebreab Teferi, was an Ethiopian activist, poet and playwright known for his extensive knowledge of the Ge’ez and Amharic language. A well-known Ethiopian poet, Gibreab Teferi Dasta died aged 65 in Addis Ababa. He was one of the early pioneers of Ethiopian music and Theater. Gibreab was a celebrated poet, lyricist, and playwright who wrote over two-hundred songs, dozen plays, and hundreds of poems in the Amharic language. Gibreab's patriotism as can be seen in many of his songs and plays. He also worked as a journalist, author, musician, composer and theater director. He wrote several unpublished plays, thousands of songs, and was in the process of publishing a book of plays and poems when he died in 1988. Senbere Teferi
Senbere Teferi (born 3 May 1995) is an Ethiopian professional middle- and long-distance runner who competes mainly in the 1500 metres and cross country running. She was the silver medallist at the 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. She represented her country at the 2013 World Championships and won medals on the track and World Youth and World Junior levels. Selamawit Teferi
Selamawit Dagnachew Teferi (born 24 March 1994) is an Ethiopian-born Israeli Olympic runner. She qualified to represent Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in the 5,000 meters. She has also won Israeli championships at 800 meters and 1,500 meters. Early and personal life Dagnachew was born in Ethiopia, to a non-Jewish family. She became an Israeli citizen in April 2018, on account of her marriage to an Israeli citizen. She is married to Ethiopian-born Israeli Olympic marathoner Marhu Teferi, who also competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics. They are the first married couple to represent Israel at the Olympics. Mizan Tefere (also called simply Mizan) is the largest town in South West Ethiopia Peoples' Region and one of four Capital cities of the region. Mizan is also the administrative centre, of the Bench Sheko Zone in the South West Ethiopia Peoples' Region of Ethiopia.
