Teet Järvi
Teet Järvi (22 April 1958 – 18 June 2025) was an Estonian cellist. Early life and career Järvi graduated from Tallinn Music High School, studying under Laine Leichter, and from the Tallinn State Conservatoire (1981), studying in the cello class of Peeter Paemurru. He received further training in Moscow with Natalia Shahhovskaja, Mikhail Homitser and Ivan Monighetti. In 1974, Järvi won First Prize at the International Cello Competition in Czechoslovakia; he was also awarded First Prize at the National (1981) and Baltic competition (1976). Between 1982 and 1990, Järvi worked as principal cellist in the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. He performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras, gave concerts with the Tallinn String Quartet and Baltic Trio in many European countries and the United States, and gave solo recitals in several cities in the former Soviet Union and abroad. Tallinn Music High School
Tallinn Music High School () was a special music high school in Tallinn, Estonia. History TMHS was founded in 1961 to ensure a sufficient number of quality applicants to the Tallinn State Conservatory (now Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre). It did fulfill its goal successfully, as 80–100% of graduates continued their studies at EAMT or at other music academies abroad. TMHS was the only school in Estonia that provided a professional music education alongside the general primary and secondary curriculum. This system prepared students for a career in music or in any other field. There were 38 senior teachers and 23 teachers on staff with qualifications to teach at the university level. Tallinn State Conservatory
The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (''Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia'') began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The assembly of the Estonia Society created the Tallinn Higher Music School on November 17, 1918. The opening ceremony took place on September 28, 1919. In 1923 the educational institution was renamed the Tallinn Conservatoire. In 1938 the State Drama School was opened. In 1993 the school was renamed the Estonian Academy of Music. In 1995 the Drama Faculty was renamed the Higher Theatre School. Estonian National Symphony Orchestra
The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra ( ''(ERSO)'') (formerly known as the Symphony Orchestra of the Estonian Radio Committee, Estonian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Estonian SSR State Symphony Orchestra) is a symphony orchestra based in Tallinn. The orchestra originated from a trio led by , who on 18 December 1926 played the first concert broadcast by Tallinn Radio. The ensemble's ranks grew and by 1939 the Radio Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra included 39 performers. In addition to radio concerts, there were live symphony concerts played with guest artists from the Estonia Theatre. In 1939, Olav Roots became the orchestra's music director. Lahti Symphony Orchestra
The Lahti Symphony Orchestra (''Sinfonia Lahti'') is a Finland, Finnish orchestra, based in the city of Lahti. The orchestra is resident at the Sibelius Hall. The orchestra was founded in 1910, and placed under the control of the Lahti municipality in 1949. History Past chief conductors of the orchestra have included Ulf Söderblom (1985-1988). Neeme Järvi
Neeme Järvi (; born 7 June 1937) is an Estonian Americans, Estonian American conductor. Early life Järvi was born in Tallinn. He initially studied music there, and later in Saint Petersburg, Leningrad at the Leningrad Conservatory under Yevgeny Mravinsky, and Nikolai Rabinovich, among others. Early in his career, he held posts with the Estonian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and the Estonian National Opera in Tallinn. In 1971 he won first prize in the International Conductors Competition at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Järvi emigrated to the United States in 1980 with his family. He became an Citizenship of the United States, American citizen in 1985.
