Teenager (The Thrills Album)
''Teenager'' is the third album from Irish band The Thrills. It was released on 22 July 2007 in Ireland and three days later in Europe. The first single from the album was " Nothing Changes Around Here". The second release taken from the album was "The Midnight Choir" which was released as a download-only single. ''Teenager'' reached No. 48 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was demoed and written in Ireland, with the band recording and mixing the album in Vancouver and California. The Thrills
The Thrills are an Irish rock band, formed in 2001 in Dublin, Ireland. The band was founded by lead vocalist Conor Deasy and guitarist Daniel Ryan, guitarist and bass player Padraic McMahon, pianist Kevin Horan and drummer Ben Carrigan. Their break came with their debut album, '' So Much for the City'', which became an Irish number one and charted at number 3 on the UK. The band's sound has been described as "inspired by classic American pop of the late '60s and early '70s" by Rovi and "an ocean-soaked, harmony-heavy homage to California's dreamy dreams, shaking ground, and unrelenting sunshine" by ''Pitchfork Media''. ''Uncut'' is a monthly magazine based in London. It is available across the English-speaking world, and focuses on music, but also includes film and books sections. A DVD magazine under the ''Uncut'' brand was published quarterly from 2005 to 2006. The magazine was acquired in 2019 by Singaporean music company BandLab Technologies, and has been published by NME Networks since December 2021. So Much For The City
''So Much for the City'' is the debut album of the Irish indie/ pop band The Thrills. It was released on 27 May 2003 and quickly saw success in Ireland, spending 61 weeks in the top 75 of the Irish Albums Chart, and also won 'Album of the Year' at the national music awards. It was also very successful in UK, debuting at #3, remaining in the charts for 25 weeks, and gave them some attention in Europe, with the single " Big Sur" reaching #17 in the UK, which remains as their highest charted position in that country to date. In an interview, lead singer Conor Deasy explained the band's inspiration for the song material: The album was nominated for the 2003 Mercury Prize but lost to Dizzee Rascal's ''Boy in da Corner''. Joseph Szabo (photographer)
Joseph Szabo (born 1944) is an American photographer whose work is about adolescence. Life and career Szabo was born in Toledo, Ohio. He studied photography at the Pratt Institute where he received his MFA. He taught photography at Malverne High School in Long Island, New York from 1972 to 1999 and he continues to teach at the International Centre of Photography (ICP). Szabo is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and his work resides in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Yale University, ICP and the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris. He is most notable for his photographs of American youth taken during the 1970s and collected in the books ''Almost Grown'' and ''Teenage.'' His photograph "Priscilla" was featured as the cover of alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr's 1991 album ''Green Mind.'' UK Albums Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data.
