''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' is a comic book published by Dreamwave Productions in 2003. The first four stories are based on episodes of the 2003 ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' television series, but told from the view of supporting characters, before the creation of new stories, just as the original issues of ''TMNT Adventures'' followed the 1987 TV series before developing new stories. The series ran for seven issues before it was cancelled as Dreamwave went out of business. Dreamwave Productions was a Canadian art design studio and comic book publisher founded in 1996. Best known for its comic book adaptations of Transformers, the company shut down on January 4, 2005. History Brothers Pat Lee and Roger Lee founded Dreamwave Productions in Toronto, Canada in 1996 as an imprint under Image Comics, publishing their first mini-series ''Darkminds''. Pat maintained artistic control while Roger managed the business operations. Dreamwave split off from Image Comics in April 2002. Dreamwave acquired the license for the ''Transformers'' toyline from Hasbro in December 2001. Leonardo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
Leonardo, nicknamed Leo, is a superhero appearing in ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' comics and related media, and created by American comic book artists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. He is one of the four central characters of the franchise, along with his brothers, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo. Often depicted wearing a blue bandanna, his signature weapons are two katana. In all iterations, Leonardo is the leader of the turtles. He is traditionally portrayed as the most mature and disciplined of the Turtles. Like his brothers, he is named after an Italian Renaissance artist, in this case, Leonardo da Vinci. In the original comics, all four of the Turtles wear red masks, but for the creators to tell them apart, he was written and redrawn to have an ocean-blue mask. Donatello, nicknamed Don or Donnie, is a superhero and one of the four main characters of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and all related media. He is the smartest and often gentlest of his brothers, bearing a purple mask over his eyes. He wields a bō staff, his primary signature weapon in all media. He is the adoptive and mutated son of Master Splinter, as well as the younger brother of Leonardo and Raphael, and older brother of Michelangelo. Michelangelo, nicknamed Mike or Mikey, is a superhero and one of the four main characters of the ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' comics and all related media. Michelangelo is the most naturally skilled of the four brothers but prefers to have a good time rather than train. The youngest of the group, he is shown to be rather immature; he is known for his wisecracks, love of skateboarding, witty optimism, and, like his brothers, love of pizza. He is usually depicted wearing an orange (colour), orange eye mask.
