Tee-Set
Tee-Set was a pop rock band formed in 1965 by singer Peter Tetteroo in Delft, Netherlands. The band is best-known for their single "Ma Belle Amie", which was a No. 5 hit in the United States. The band had a number of other hit songs in the Netherlands, including the number one song "She Likes Weeds". The band underwent numerous changes in its members; the only constant was its lead singer Peter Tetteroo, who died in September 2002 at the age of 55. History The band was formed in 1965 in Delft, Netherlands by singer . Other early members were Gerard Romeyn on guitar, Polle Eduard on bass, Carry Janssen on drums, and Robbie Plazier on keyboard. Ma Belle Amie
"Ma Belle Amie" is a song by Tee-Set, released as a single from the album ''Ma Belle Amie''. It reached No. 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and No. 3 in Australia and Canada in 1970, No. 1 in South Africa, and reached the Top 10 across central Europe. The original song, whose French title means "My Beautiful Friend", features a French lyric line: "Apres Tous les beaux jours je te dis merci merci" ("After all the beautiful days, I say thank you, thank you"). The song is dominated by electric organ, and has drums, bass and acoustic guitar, with handclaps in the bridge section. Release and reception The song was written by Peter Tetteroo and Hans Van Eijck of Tee-Set. The single was first released in 1969 in the Netherlands on Tee Set Records (TS 1329) and sold over 100,000 copies. Nederbeat
Nederbeat (also: Nederbiet) was the Dutch rock boom of mid-1960s influenced by British beat groups and rock bands such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and, much like British freakbeat, it is essentially the Dutch counterpart to American garage rock. Among the best-known Nederbeat groups are the Golden Earrings, The Motions, The Outsiders and Shocking Blue. History In the 1960s, The Beatles and the Merseybeat sound began to dominate the Dutch charts, which led to interest among Dutch musicians in forming bands that perform such music, replacing a previous genre Indorock performed by Indonesian immigrants. The interest was further spurred on by the Beatles concerts in the Netherlands in 1964 which drew large crowds, followed by a performance by The Rolling Stones at the Kurhaus in Scheveningen disrupted by an excited audience. Ray Fenwick
Raymond John Fenwick (18 July 1946 – 30 April 2022) was an English guitarist and session musician, best known for his work in The Syndicats and in The Spencer Davis Group in the 1960s, and as the lead guitarist of Ian Gillan's post-Deep Purple solo project, the Ian Gillan Band. Career Fenwick's first professional group was a ska and bluebeat group called Ray and the Red Devils. In 1964, he joined The Syndicats, replacing Steve Howe, and in turn being replaced by Peter Banks. In 1965, he joined the Dutch group Tee-Set, from which developed another group After Tea. He was with The Spencer Davis Group from 1967 to 1969. He also co-wrote the theme music to the 1970s television series ''Magpie'', which was credited to "The Murgatroyd Band", which was basically The Spencer Davis Group at the time. Colossus Records
Colossus Records was an American record label founded in 1969 by Jerry Ross, who had also founded Heritage Records the year before. Like Heritage, Colossus was distributed by MGM Records. In the autumn of 1969, Jerry Ross was in Europe looking for European hits for release in the United States, and he came across "Ma Belle Amie" by Tee-Set, whom he then signed. He was also offered Venus by Shocking Blue and "Little Green Bag" by George Baker Selection. "Venus" was released first and it reached No. 1 on ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1970. "Ma Belle Amie" was a Top 5 hit while "Little Green Bag" reached No. 21. Red Red Wine
"Red Red Wine" is a song originally written, performed and recorded by American singer Neil Diamond in 1967 that appears on his second studio album, '' Just for You''. The lyrics are written from the perspective of a person who finds that drinking red wine is the only way to forget his woes. This song is often mistaken for being a Bob Marley song. UB40 recorded a cover version in 1983 that went to 1 in the UK and was moderately successful in the United States. It was rereleased in 1988 and went to No. 1 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Collectables is a reissue record label founded in 1980 by Jerry Greene. Jerry Greene formed Lost Nite and Crimson record labels. Soul Survivors gained the hit "Expressway to Your Heart" (1967) while on Crimson Records. The Dutch Album Top 100 or Album Top 100 is a weekly hit list of music albums, compiled by Dutch Charts. List shows the 100 best-selling music albums of the moment in the Netherlands. The list has passed through various name changes and has expanded from a Top 10 to a Top 100. Names Album chart by ''Stichting Nederlandse Top 40'' From 1969 to 1999, an alternative weekly album chart was published by offshore radio station Radio Veronica (1969-1974) and the '' Stichting Nederlandse Top 40'' (1974-1999). This chart varied in length from a top 20 (1969-1971 and from 1972 to 1974) to a top 50 (1971-1972 and 1974–1985), a top 75 (1985-1991) and a top 100 (1991-1999). This album chart was regarded by many as the official one, since it was widely published while the chart listed above was not (not until 1993). Angel Air is an English independent record label established in February 1997, specialising in reissues of classic pop and rock albums originally issued in the 1960s and 1970s (and latterly new albums from known artists up to the 21st century). It was formed by Peter and Shirley Purnell. Today the Purnells also own CeeDee Music UK which publishes over 3,000 songs, and CeeDee Management which counts Mott The Hoople members the late Overend Watts, Verden Allen and the late Dale Griffin and Saxon members Graham Oliver and Steve Dawson amongst its management clients. ''Funeral in Berlin'' is a 1966 British spy film directed by Guy Hamilton and based on the 1964 Funeral in Berlin, novel of the same name by Len Deighton. It is the second of three 1960s films starring Michael Caine as the character Harry Palmer that followed the characters from the initial film, ''The Ipcress File (film), The Ipcress File'' (1965). The third film was ''Billion Dollar Brain'' (1967). Plot British secret agent Harry Palmer is sent to Berlin by his superior Colonel Ross to arrange the defection of Colonel Stok, a prominent Soviet intelligence officer. Palmer is sceptical but links up with Johnny Vulkan, an old German friend and former criminal associate, who now runs the Berlin station for British intelligence. The Dutch Top 40 ( nl, Nederlandse Top 40) is a weekly music chart compiled by ''Stichting Nederlandse Top 40''. It started as a radio program titled "Veronica Top 40", on the offshore station Radio Veronica in 1965. It remained "The Veronica Top 40" until 1974, when the station was forced to stop broadcasting. Joost den Draaijer initiated the Top 40 in the Netherlands. The show currently airs on Fridays from 2 to 6 PM on Qmusic.
