Teddy Thompson
Teddy Thompson (born 19 February 1976) is an English folk and rock musician. He is the son of folk rock musicians Richard and Linda Thompson and brother of singer Kamila Thompson. He released his first album in 2000. Biography Teddy Thompson was born in 1976 in a London Sufi commune to folk rock musicians Richard and Linda Thompson, both major musical figures in the English folk rock scene from the 1960s onward. He formed a band at the age of 18. Folk Music
Folk music is a music genre that includes traditional folk music and the contemporary genre that evolved from the former during the 20th-century folk revival. Celtschmerz
''Celtschmerz'' is a live album by Richard Thompson. Continuing his policy, begun with the '' Live at Crawley'' album, of releasing high quality alternatives to bootlegs, Thompson released this live album in 1998. The album was recorded during his tour of England earlier the same year. Starting in the early 1980s Thompson began to perform live solo and with an acoustic guitar. By the late 1990s he was performing more frequently in this format than with a band. ''Celtschmerz'' captures him in this "unplugged" setting. Comparing ''Celtschmerz'' to 1984's '' Small Town Romance'' shows how Thompson has evolved his solo acoustic guitar technique over the years. Thompson's son Teddy was the support act on this tour and joined his father each night to perform some duets. ''Bella'' is the fifth studio album by singer-songwriter Teddy Thompson, released through the record labels Decca and Verve Forecast in February 2011. Produced by David Kahne, the album features members of Thompson's touring band with Ethan Eubanks on drums, Jeff Hill on bass and Daniel Mintseris on keyboards. Songs The album's opening track, "Looking for a Girl", has a twelve-bar blues structure and has been complimented for its "strong beat and catchy melodies". This is the first of Thompson's albums not to feature an Everly Brothers cover as a hidden track. Tour During January and February 2011, Thompson toured throughout the United Kingdom. ''A Piece of What You Need'' is the fourth studio album by singer-songwriter Teddy Thompson. The album contains all new Teddy originals and was produced by Marius De Vries, whom Teddy met while recording background vocals on Rufus Wainwright's ''Want'' records in 2002. Included are new songs Teddy had been testing out live, such as "Turning the Gun On Myself", "In My Arms" and "Can't Sing Straight". The album debuted on the UK Albums Chart at No. 10. The first single from ''A Piece of What You Need'' is "In My Arms". The music video features a cameo appearance by Rufus Wainwright dressed up as Elvis Presley. Top Country Albums is a chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine in the United States. The 50-position chart lists the most popular country music albums in the country, calculated weekly by Broadcast Data Systems based on physical sales along with digital sales and streaming. The chart was first published in the issue of ''Billboard'' dated January 11, 1964, under the title Hot Country Albums, when the number one album was '' Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash'' by Johnny Cash. Top Heatseekers are "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers Albums and the Heatseekers Songs charts were introduced by ''Billboard'' in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists. Albums and songs appearing on Top Heatseekers may also concurrently appear on the ''Billboard'' 200 or ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Irish Albums Chart
The Irish Albums Chart is the Irish music industry standard albums popularity chart issued weekly by the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA). The charts were previously compiled on behalf of IRMA by Chart-Track, and have been compiled by the Official Charts Company since 2017. Chart rankings are based on sales, which are compiled through over-the-counter retail data captured electronically each day from retailers' Point of sale systems and certain digital retailers. All major record stores and over forty independents submit data for the charts, accounting for over 80% of the market, according to Chart-Track. A new chart is compiled and released to the public by the Irish Recorded Music Association on Friday at noon. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. The OCC produces its charts by gathering and combining sales data from retailers through market researchers Kantar, and claims to cover 99% of the singles market and 95% of the album market, and aims to collect data from any retailer who sells more than 100 chart items per week. UK Albums Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data.
