Ted Robinson (footballer)
Edward Robinson (27 September 1903 – 28 July 1972) was an English professional footballer who played as a full-back for Southampton, Southport and Wigan Athletic. Football career Robinson was born in Hindley, near Wigan and in his youth played football for several clubs in the area before joining Chorley of the Lancashire Combination in 1925. In August 1927, he moved to the south coast to join Southampton of the Football League Second Division. He spent most of his time with the Saints in the reserves, making 67 appearances in his year at The Dell. His only first-team appearance came on 31 December 1927, when he took the place of Ted Hough at right-back for the game at Stoke City; the match was lost 2–1. In the summer of 1928, Robinson was released and returned to Lancashire to join Southport of the Football League Third Division North, where he remained for five years, making 108 league appearances, scoring six goals. Hindley is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan in Greater Manchester, England. Lying east of Wigan it covers an area of . Within the boundaries of the historic county of Lancashire, Hindley (which includes Hindley Green) borders the towns and villages of Ince-in-Makerfield, Aspull, Westhoughton, Atherton and Westleigh in the former borough of Leigh. Rhyl (; cy, Y Rhyl, ) is a seaside town and community in Denbighshire, Wales. The town lies within the historic boundaries of Flintshire, on the north-east coast of Wales at the mouth of the River Clwyd ( Welsh: ''Afon Clwyd''). Springfield Park (Wigan)
Springfield Park was a multi-purpose stadium in Wigan, Greater Manchester. It was the home ground of Wigan Athletic F.C. until the club moved to the new JJB Stadium (now DW Stadium) after the 1998–99 season. At its largest, the stadium held 40,000. In its 102-year existence the ground only saw 32 years as a Football League venue, 11 years for Wigan Borough F.C. and 21 years for Wigan Athletic FC, before it was demolished to make way for a housing estate in 1999. The stadium had previously been home to Wigan County, Wigan United, Wigan Town, and Wigan Borough (previously Wigan United and Wigan Association) as well as Wigan and Springfield Borough rugby league sides.
