Ted Llewellyn
Edward Llewellyn (3 February 1909 – 20 January 2002) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong and North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Llewellyn was a follower, also used at centre half-forward when not in the ruck. Originally from Port Fairy, he started at Geelong in 1929 but had his breakthrough season in 1930 when he played 19 of a possible 21 games. This included the 1930 VFL Grand Final against Collingwood, where he contributed two goals in a 30-point loss. He almost played in another grand final for Geelong the following year but was omitted from the team, despite participating in their preliminary final win. Geelong would become the 1931 premiers and a disappointed Llewellyn requested a clearance. He spent four seasons at North Melbourne and was appointed club captain when Tom Fitzmaurice retired midway through the 1935 VFL season. Maryborough Football Club
The Maryborough Football & Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Magpies'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Maryborough, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Bendigo Football Netball League. History Maryborough were Ballarat Football League premiers on four occasions from 1924 to 1931 but missed both the 1929 and 1930 seasons as they were without a home ground. The council had decided to allocate Princess Park to the Maryborough District Football Association (MDFA). After returning and winning the 1931 premiership, Maryborough applied to join the Bendigo league and were suspended from the Ballarat league as a result. From 1932 to 1940, a separate club called Maryborough United participated in the Bendigo league. The original club reformed in 1945 and they spent a season in the MDFA before returning to the Ballarat league in 1946. The original Benalla District Football League was formed in 1929 from the following clubs - Baddaginnie, Benalla - "B", Swanpool, Tatong, Thoona and Winton. The Benalla & District Football League (B&DFL) was formed immediately after World War Two in 1946 and an Australian rules football competition based in the Benalla region of Victoria, Australia and ran until 2009.
