Ted Fest
The Friends of Ted Festival, or Ted Fest, is an annual fan convention held on the island of Inishmore, off the coast of County Galway, Ireland for fans of the Channel 4 sitcom '' Father Ted'', created by Graham Linehan and Arthur Mathews. The series was set on the fictional Craggy Island off Ireland's west coast, so Ted Fest is also held on such an island. In 2010 the festival expanded to an Australian edition, which was held in Parkes, New South Wales. Aran Islands
The Aran Islands ( ; gle, Oileáin Árann, ) or The Arans (''na hÁrainneacha'' ) are a group of three islands at the mouth of Galway Bay, off the west coast of Republic of Ireland, Ireland, with a total area around . Rock-a-Hula Ted
"Rock a Hula Ted" is the seventh episode of the second series of Channel 4 sitcom ''Father Ted'', and the thirteenth episode overall. Synopsis Ted and Dougal see feminist musician Niamh Connolly – a thinly veiled parody of Sinéad O'Connor – on the television, accusing the Catholic Church of multiple atrocious but highly improbable acts during the Great Famine, such as shutting the "potato factories" and turning them into children's prisons. She then sings a radically feminist, anti-clerical song ("Big men in frocks / Tellin' us what to do / They can't get pregnant like I do") with the lyrics signed for TV viewers. Ted and Dougal loudly dismiss all of this. Meanwhile, Mrs Doyle declares that the Church has always been good to her, while she is preoccupied with various heavy labour tasks around the Parochial House in addition to her regular housework as the men relax in front of the television. Kilfenora
Kilfenora ( ga, Cill Fhionnúrach , meaning 'Church of the Fertile Hillside' or 'Church of the White Brow') is a village and a civil parish in County Clare, Ireland. It is situated south of the karst limestone region known as the Burren. Since medieval times when it was the episcopal see of the Bishop of Kilfenora, it has been known as the "City of the Crosses" for its seven (now five) high crosses. "Escape from Victory" is the fifth episode of the third series of Channel 4 sitcom ''Father Ted'' and the 22nd episode overall. It is the first of two episodes that form a linked narrative, ending with "Kicking Bishop Brennan Up the Arse". Synopsis Ted is panicking over the upcoming "All-Priests five-a-side Over-75s Indoor Challenge Football Match" between teams from Craggy Island and Rugged Island, which will be led by his rival Father Dick Byrne. A Christmassy Ted
"A Christmassy Ted" is both the 17th episode overall of and a Christmas special for the Channel 4 sitcom ''Father Ted''. This episode was broadcast between the second and third series. It is 55 minutes long, as opposed to the usual 21–22 mins of all other episodes in the series. It was aired on Christmas Eve 1996, seven months after the second series had ended. Due to the popularity of this episode, it still gets repeated on Channel 4, RTÉ Two and More4 around Christmas every year.
