Ted Daffer
Terrell Edwin "Ted" Daffer (September 24, 1929 – March 1, 2006) was an American football player. He played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers football team at the guard position from 1949 to 1951. He was selected by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Associated Press (AP), Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the International News Service (INS) as a first-team guard on the 1950 College Football All-America Team. The following year, he was again selected by the INS and the Newspaper Enterprise Association as a first-team player on the 1951 All-America Team. Daffer was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 21st round of the 1952 NFL Draft. After two years of service in the United States Army, he played for the Bears during the 1954 NFL season. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Guards are automatically considered ineligible receivers, so they cannot intentionally touch a forward pass, unless it is to recover a fumble or is first touched by a defender or eligible receiver. The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) is an association of over 11,000 American football coaches and staff on all levels. According to its constitution, some of the main goals of the American Football Coaches Association are to "maintain the highest possible standards in football and the profession of coaching football," and to "provide a forum for the discussion and study of all matters pertaining to football and coaching." The AFCA, along with ''USA Today'', is responsible for the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision Coaches Poll. Canadian Football League

Ottawa Rough Riders
The Ottawa Rough Riders were a Canadian Football League team based in Ottawa, Ontario, founded in 1876. Formerly one of the oldest and longest-lived professional sports teams in North America, the Rough Riders won the Grey Cup championship nine times. Their most dominant era was the 1960s and 1970s, in which they won five Grey Cups. The team's fortunes waned in the 1980s and 1990s, and they ultimately ceased operations following the 1996 CFL season, 1996 season.
