Ted Brown (American Football)
Thomas Edward "Ted" Brown (born February 15, 1957) is a former American college and professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons during the late 1970s and 1980s. Brown played college football for North Carolina State University, where he was recognized as an All-American. He was a first-round pick in the 1979 NFL Draft, and played professionally for the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. Brown's son, J. T. is a former National Hockey League player. Early years Brown was born in High Point, North Carolina. He attended T. Wingate Andrews High School. College career By the time Brown graduated from North Carolina State University in 1978, he had set the Atlantic Coast Conference career rushing record with 4,602 yards and the single game rushing record with 251 yards against Penn State in 1977. Ted Brown (Australian Footballer)
Edward Valentine Brown (18 October 1891 – 8 December 1957) was an Australian rules footballer who played for St Kilda and Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of Mungo Brown (1861-1911), and Margaret Ann Brown (1863-1933), née Peel, Edward Valentine Brown was born in Bendigo on 18 October 1891. He married Lucy Catherine Miller (1891-1980) in 1921. Their sons, Vincent (1922-1989), and John (1923-2007), also played for Carlton (117 games and 90 games, respectively). Football St Kilda Ted Brown played with Ararat Football Club in 1911–13, 18 games, including premierships in the 1911 and 1912 Wimmera & District Football Association. He played with Ararat on Wednesdays and in Ballarat on Saturdays. Brown, who was brought up in Ballarat, was recruited to St Kilda from Caulfield. Theodore David Brown (May 5, 1924 – March 20, 2005) was a radio personality who worked at several stations in New York City including WMGM, WNEW and WNBC during the 1950s and 1960s, the golden age of AM radio. Early life Brown was born in Collingswood, New Jersey, the son of Rose and Meyer Nathan Brown, a grocery store owner. His parents were Russian Jewish immigrants. Brown attended Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. He served in the United States Army Air Forces as a tail gunner on a B-17 bomber during World War II, and spent 18 months as a prisoner of war in Stalag IX-C after being shot down over Germany. During the 1950s, Brown broadcast from a studio in the basement of his home in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.
