Tecnicolor
''Tecnicolor'' would have been the fourth album by the Brazilian band Os Mutantes. The album was intended to be their introduction in the English-speaking world and included English versions of songs from the albums ''Os Mutantes'' and '' A Divina Comédia ou Ando Meio Desligado'', re-recordings in Portuguese and French, and several new songs. It was recorded in Paris, in 1970, but release only 30 years later. Speculations have been raised that the tapes were lost until writer Carlos Calado, working on the band's biography, uncovered them. An alternative explanation is that the band was unsatisfied with many of the recordings, and abandoned the project to return to Brazil. Three of the recordings from these sessions were used later that year in their album '' Jardim Elétrico''. Os Mutantes
Os Mutantes (meaning '' the mutants''; ) are an influential Brazilian rock band that were linked with the Tropicália movement, a dissident musical movement during the Brazilian dictatorship of the late 1960s. The band is considered to be one of the main groups of Brazilian rock. Heavily influenced by Anglo-American psychedelic pop, they bridged Brazilian sensibilities together with studio trickery, feedback, distortion, and musique concrète. They released their now-acclaimed self-titled debut album in 1968. Os Mutantes debuted their work in 1966, as a trio, when they presented themselves in the program ''O Pequeno Mundo de Ronnie Von'' of TV Record. The group was christened ''Mutantes'' by Ronnie Von himself, right before their first TV appearance. ''Jardim Elétrico'' () is the fourth album by the Brazilian Tropicália/ psychedelic rock band Os Mutantes. The album was originally released in 1971 (see 1971 in music) on Polydor Records. The title in English means ''Electric Garden''. Five of the songs from this album were originally intended to be released on the album ''Tecnicolor'', but that album was not released until 2000. The album also saw Arnaldo Baptista take over as the band's producer, a position he would maintain until he left the band in 1973. It was listed by ''Rolling Stone'' Brazil at #72 on the 100 best Brazilian albums in history list. Arnaldo Baptista
Arnaldo Dias Baptista (, born July 6, 1948) is a Brazilian rock musician and composer. Biography Born to pianist, Clarisse Leite, and poet, César Dias Baptista, Baptista studied classical piano from 1955 to 1959, double bass from 1962 to 1963, and acoustic guitar from 1963 to 1965. In 1966 he formed the influential Os Mutantes band with his brother Sérgio Dias and Rita Lee, where he played bass guitar, keyboards and sang. Baptista left the band in 1973 due to disagreements with the other members of the band and the excessive use of LSD, of which he had been hospitalized for. In 1974 he tried to work as a musical producer, with no success. This motivated him to try a solo career, and in the same year, he released the album '' Lóki?'', which is considered his best work by some critics. Arnolpho Lima Filho (born 5 May 1951 in São Paulo), known as Liminha, is a Brazilian musician and producer. He started his career as the bassist of "Os Baobás", and was called in 1970 to tour with Os Mutantes, becoming an official member later. In 1974, he left the group to start his producing career. Humberto Cavalcanti de Albuquerque Teixeira (5 January 1915 – 3 October 1979) was a Brazilian lawyer, politician, musician, and composer, mostly known for his partnership with musician Luiz Gonzaga. Severino Dias de Oliveira (May 26, 1930 – December 14, 2006), known professionally as Sivuca, was a Brazilian accordionist, guitarist and singer. In addition to his home state of Paraíba, Brazil, and cities Recife and Rio de Janeiro, he worked and lived in Paris, Lisbon, and New York City intermittently.
