Teatro Tomasino
Teatro Tomasino is the official theater guild of the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. History The group was formed by 25 students under the supervisions of Professor Myrna Hilario and Professor Piedad Guinto on September 17, 1977. Formal workshops started on April 2, 1977 under Maryo J. de los Reyes, Soxie Topacio, Jonee Gamboa, Nicanor Agudo, Sonia Roco, Adul de Leon, Sol Oca, Pilar de Gurman, Bernardo Bernardo and Lino Brocka. Subsequently, the first production was held with the performance of Orlando Nadres' ''Ang Awit na Hindi Matapos-tapos'' under the direction of Maryo J. de los Reyes. Most of its productions are held at the Albertus Magnus Auditorium at the University of Santo Tomas. Theatre or theater is a collaborative form of performing art that uses live performers, usually actors or actresses, to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place, often a stage. Orlando Nadres
Orlando Nadres (November 1938, in Tayabas, Quezon – July 14, 1991) was a stage, film, television writer, director and actor. He is the son of Igmideo Nadres and Tecla Reobaldo. He attended the Lucena and Tayabas Elementary School, then went to Luis Palad High School where he published his first story in Liwayway. He spent four years in Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary and a year in the St. Paul Seminary in Pasay. He took a secretarial course and enrolled in Journalism and later in Foreign Service, major in French in U.S.T. As a writer Nadres first wrote professionally for Komiks, together with Mars Ravalo doing layouts and writing stories for the publication and in 1968 became the managing editor of the same publication. In the 1960s, he worked for G. Miranda and Sons Publishing Co. which later inspired him to write Paraisong Parisukat. Piolo Jose Nonato Pascual (, born January 12, 1977) is a Filipino film and television actor, singer, model, and producer. Early life Piolo Jose Nonato Pascual was born on January 12, 1977, in Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center located in Malate, Manila. Catalino Ortiz Brocka (April 3, 1939 – May 22, 1991) was a Filipino film director. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and significant filmmakers in the history of Philippine cinema. He co-founded the organization Concerned Artists of the Philippines (CAP), dedicated to helping artists address issues confronting the country, and the Free the Artist Movement.
