Tears (X Japan Song)
"Tears" is the ninth single by the Japanese heavy metal band X Japan, released on November 10, 1993. Overview The song was debuted/first performed on December 31, 1992, on a broadcast of NHK, NHK's Kouhaku Uta Gassen and featured all singers on this episode. Hideto Matsumoto, Hide, their guitarist, had the idea to distribute the lyrics starting on the first stanza with Akiko Wada's voice. It is the band's first single to be released under the name X Japan and the first to feature Heath (musician), Heath on bass. The ballad was written and composed solely by Yoshiki (musician), Yoshiki about the death of his father, but he co-credited it to the alias because he was concerned how fans would react to a softer song from the band. It would later appear on the album ''Dahlia (album), Dahlia'' and was also used as the theme song for the Japanese TV drama . X Japan
was a Japanese rock band from Chiba, formed in 1982 by drummer and pianist Yoshiki and lead vocalist Toshi. Starting as a predominantly power/speed metal band with heavy symphonic elements, they later gravitated towards a progressive sound with an emphasis on ballads. Besides being one of the first Japanese acts to achieve mainstream success while on an independent label, the group is widely credited as one of the pioneers of visual kei, a movement among Japanese musicians comparable to Western glam. Originally named , they released their debut album ''Vanishing Vision'' (1988) on Yoshiki's own Extasy Records one year after finalizing their line-up including bassist Taiji, lead guitarist Hide and rhythm guitarist Pata. "Dahlia" is the thirteenth single by Japanese heavy metal band X Japan, released on February 26, 1996. Summary "Dahlia" went on to become the title track of the band's 1996 album and one of Yoshiki's last compositions in his signature blend of speed and symphonic metal. The song's title, "Dahlia", appears in the lyrics as an acronym during a voice over, which says "destiny, alive, heaven, love, innocence, always, destroy, aftermath, hell, life, infinite". The single was released with two different covers. The B-side is a live version of "Tears", recorded on December 30, 1993, at the Tokyo Dome. The same recording also appears on their live compilation album '' Live Live Live Tokyo Dome 1993-1996''. Hide (musician)
, known professionally as hide, was a Japanese musician, singer-songwriter and record producer. He achieved international fame as the lead guitarist of the rock band X Japan from 1987 to 1997 and a solo artist from 1993 onward. He also formed the United States-based rock supergroup Zilch in 1996. Hide sold millions of records, both solo and as a member of X Japan. X Japan rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s, credited as founders of the Japanese visual kei movement. When they disbanded in 1997, he focused on his solo career which started four years prior and went on to enjoy significant popularity. At the height of his fame, while recording his third studio album and about to launch an international career with the newly formed Zilch, he died in 1998 of what was ruled a suicide by hanging. Pata (musician)
, known exclusively by his stage name Pata, is a Japanese musician. He is best known as rhythm guitarist of the visual kei rock band X Japan. He joined the band in 1987, stayed with them until their dissolution in 1997, and rejoined when the band reunited in 2007. A year after their breakup, he formed the short-lived duo P.A.F. with singer NoB and created the band Dope HEADz with X Japan bassist Heath and former Spread Beaver percussionist/programmer I.N.A. in 2000. Right after they ceased activity, Pata formed the instrumental band Ra:IN in 2002, which still tours extensively to this day. M.C The MAX () is a South Korean rock band. They debuted in 2000 as a 4-member band under the name Moon Child. After the departure of member Heo Jung-min, members Lee Soo, Jeon Min-hyuk and J. Yoon regrouped in 2002 as M.C the MAX. They were initially managed by the production company of Yoshiki, founding member of the Japanese heavy metal band X Japan.
