Team Yankee (game)
''Team Yankee'', subtitled "A Game of World War III", is a board wargame published by Game Designers' Workshop (GDW) in 1987 that is based on the book of the same name by Harold Coyle. Description ''Team Yankee'' is a two-player tank combat game based in West Germany during a hypothetical World War III. Components The bookcase game box contains: *two double-sided paper hex grid maps scaled at per hex *240 die-cut counters *rule book *storage tray *six-sided die *background booklet Scenarios The game comes with eight scenarios, each based on action from the contents of Harold Coyle's book. Each scenario uses a progressive set of rules, so that the players know how to use all the optional rules by the final scenario. There are also instructions on how to design a scenario. Empire Software
Empire Interactive was a British video game developer and publisher based in London. Founded in 1987 by Ian Higgins and Simon Jeffrey, it was acquired by Silverstar Holdings in 2006 and went out of business in 2009. History Empire Interactive was established by Ian Higgins (chief executive officer) and Simon Jeffrey (managing director) in 1987. In November 2000, the company acquired development studio Razorworks. As well as full priced titles, Empire also had a budget range of titles, Xplosiv, for PC and PS2. Cold is the presence of low temperature, especially in the atmosphere. In common usage, cold is often a subjective perception. A lower bound to temperature is absolute zero, defined as 0.00K on the Kelvin scale, an absolute thermodynamic temperature scale. This corresponds to on the Celsius scale, on the Fahrenheit scale, and on the Rankine scale. Since temperature relates to the thermal energy held by an object or a sample of matter, which is the kinetic energy of the random motion of the particle constituents of matter, an object will have less thermal energy when it is colder and more when it is hotter. If it were possible to cool a system to absolute zero, all motion of the particles in a sample of matter would cease and they would be at complete rest in the classical sense. The entire magazine interior is now newsprint (as opposed to the part-glossy/part-newsprint format of the original ''Games'') and the puzzles and articles that originally sandwiched the "Pencilwise" section are now themselves sandwiched ''by'' the main puzzle pages, replacing the "feature puzzle" section. The Origins Awards are American awards for outstanding work in the game industry. They are presented by the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design at the Origins Game Fair on an annual basis for the previous year, so (for example) the 1979 awards were given at the 1980 Origins. The Origins Award is commonly referred to as a Calliope, as the statuette is in the likeness of the muse of the same name. Academy members frequently shorten this name to "Callie". ''Team Yankee'' is a 1990 real-time strategy simulation computer wargame developed by Oxford Digital Enterprises and published by Empire Software for Amiga, Atari ST, MS-DOS, and Commodore CDTV. Based on Harold Coyle's novel and board game of the same name, the game depicts a World War III scenario between the United States and the Soviet Union from an armoured warfare perspective. Gameplay is conducted both from a map of the area and in a 3D environment with 2D sprites. The game features numerous iconic Cold War-era armoured fighting vehicles, including the M1 Abrams, M2 Bradley, M113, T-62, T-72, and BMP-2, among others.
