Team Scotland Roller Derby
Team Scotland Roller Derby represents Scotland in women's international roller derby, in events such as the Roller Derby World Cup. The team was first formed to compete at the 2011 Roller Derby World Cup, and finished the tournament in eleventh place. Team Scotland played two warm-up matches for the World Cup, beating both a "rest of Scotland" team, and the "Northern All-Stars", consisting of skaters from the north of England. At the World Cup, Scotland lost narrowly to Aotearoa Roller Derby, New Zealand, 124 to 111, and overwhelmingly to USA Roller Derby, Team USA, 435 to 1. Although this led to the becoming the lowest-ranked team in the consolation stage, they beat Argentina All Stars, Team Argentina and later beat Roller Derby Brasil, Team Brazil, to finish eleventh out of thirteen teams. 2011 Roller Derby World Cup
The 2011 Roller Derby World Cup was an international women's roller derby tournament organized by ''Blood & Thunder'' magazine. Teams of amateur skaters from around the world were fielded to compete for their respective nations. The inaugural 2011 Roller Derby World Cup was hosted by Toronto Roller Derby, and was held December 1 through 4, 2011, at Supply Depot (Toronto), The Bunker at Downsview Park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was won by Team USA (roller derby), Team USA, who beat Team Canada (roller derby), Team Canada by a score of 336 points to 33 in the final. London Rockin' Rollers (LRR) is a flat-track roller derby league based in London, England. Founded in 2007, the league is a member of both the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA) and the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). Team Ireland Roller Derby represents Ireland in women's international roller derby, in events such as the Roller Derby World Cup. Affectionately known as the "Green Machine", the team was first formed to compete at the 2011 Roller Derby World Cup, and finished the tournament in tenth place. The Irish team warmed up for the 2011 World Cup with a number of bouts against English leagues, starting with the Sheffield Steel Rollergirls. At the World Cup, Ireland lost to Team Finland in round 1; then easily beat Roller Derby Brasil in the consolation stage, but lost to Roller Derby Germany to finish tenth. The team's head coach, Violent Bob, from Dublin Roller Girls, stated afterwards that the team were "probably among the underdogs" at the World Cup, but were "pretty proud of how we got on". Seaside Siren Roller Girls
The Seaside Siren Roller Girls (SSRG) was a roller derby league based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, in England. Founded in 2009, the league consists of two teams, which compete against teams from other leagues. Seaside is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). History The league was founded in November 2009 by six skaters who had formerly skated with another league, but wanted to play closer to their home town. The league began practising on Canvey Island, and had fourteen skaters by early 2010. It played its first bout in April 2011, when it faced the Norfolk Brawds. In June 2012, the Seaside Sirens were accepted as a member of the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association, while in October 2013, they were accepted as a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice Programme.
