Team Europe
Team Europe may refer to a number of sports team using the designate to represent a unified team of European countries in sporting competitions. Whilst neither the European Union nor the Council of Europe are countries themselves, European teams have been formed to compete in several international competitions. The most famous of these is the Ryder Cup in golf which sees a European team play against a team from the USA in even-numbered years. In association football, a selection of European footballers play occasionally for charity games and anniversary games in the Europe XI team. Team Europe may also refer to cooperative efforts between the European Union, its Member States, the European Investment Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Team Europe was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to improve coherence and coordination between its members. Team Europe (ice Hockey)
Team Europe was an international ice hockey team created for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. It was jointly administered by the IIHF and NHL and represented countries in Europe not represented by their own national team, including Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland. Team Europe players wore badges with their respective nations' flags on their jerseys. 2016 World Cup of Hockey Team Europe played its first pre-tournament game on September 8, 2016. They were defeated 4–0 by Team North America at the Videotron Centre, in Quebec City. Ten-pin Bowling
Ten-pin bowling is a type of bowling in which a bowler rolls a bowling ball down a wood or synthetic lane toward ten pins positioned evenly in four rows in an equilateral triangle. The objective is to knock down all ten pins on the first roll of the ball (a strike), or failing that, on the second roll (a spare). An approximately long ''approach'' area used by the bowler to impart speed and apply rotation to the ball ends in a ''foul line''. 2016 World Cup Of Hockey
The 2016 World Cup of Hockey (abbreviated WCH2016) was an international ice hockey tournament. It was the third installment of the National Hockey League (NHL)-sanctioned competition, 12 years after the second World Cup of Hockey in 2004. American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. NFL Global Junior Championship
The NFL Global Junior Championship was played during the week leading up to the Super Bowl, in the same city that is hosting the game. The first game was played in 1997, and only two teams played, Mexico and Europe. Mexico won the first and second edition, Europe won the third edition. Laver Cup
The Laver Cup is an international indoor hard court men's team tennis tournament between Team Europe and Team World, the latter of which is composed of players from all other continents except Europe. Usually held annually since 2017, the tournament is intended to be the Ryder Cup of the tennis world. It normally takes place two weeks after the US Open, with the location rotating between various host cities (that usually do not have an ATP Tour event); alternating yearly between European cities and cities in the rest of the world. In addition to the guaranteed participation fees which are based upon the players' ATP rankings, each member of the winning team gets $250,000 in prize money, but the tournament itself does not count towards the players' point totals in the ATP Tour for that year. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. Continental Cup Of Curling
The Continental Cup is a curling tournament held annually between teams from North America (sometimes just Canada) against teams from the rest of the World (sometimes just Europe). Each side is represented by six teams (three women's teams and three men's teams), which compete using a unique points system. The tournament is modeled after golf's Ryder Cup., but unlike the Ryder Cup, the Continental Cup has never been held outside of North America nor has it been a regular, biennial event. The Fightmaster Cup is a match play golf tournament involving players from North America and Europe. Euro-Asia Cup
The Euro-Asia Cup, more recently known as the Asia-Euro Cup or Asia-Europe All Stars Challenge, is a table tennis team competition currently held annually in China between teams of professional players representing Asia and Europe. History First held in 1986 to 1989 with singles and team events, then re-held in 2009 with only team events, in 2009 to 2013 the competition featured two events each year: one held in China and the other held in a European city. Since 2013, there has just been one event held annually in China, currently organised by the Chinese Table Tennis Association.
