The Team Envy Overwatch team represented Team Envy, an American esports franchise, in the video game ''Overwatch''. Originally competing under the name Team EnVyUs, the team won multiple regional and international competitions before being transferred to the Dallas Fuel franchise of the Overwatch League (OWL) by their parent organization, Envy Gaming. The franchise reestablished its ''Overwatch'' division in 2018 and currently competes in the North America West region of Overwatch Contenders (OWC) as an academy team for the Dallas Fuel. The division disbanded in April 2020. ''Overwatch'' was a 2016 team-based multiplayer first-person shooter game by Blizzard Entertainment. The game was first released for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One in May 2016 and Nintendo Switch in October 2019. Cross-platform play was supported across all platforms. Described as a "hero shooter", ''Overwatch'' assigned players into two teams of six, with each player selecting from a Characters of Overwatch, large roster of characters, known as "heroes", with unique abilities. Teams worked to complete map-specific objectives within a limited period of time. Major League Gaming Corp. (MLG) is a professional esports organization. MLG is headquartered in New York City, New York and was founded in 2002 by Sundance DiGiovanni and Mike Sepso. MLG has held official video game tournaments throughout the United States and Canada. The ''Boost Mobile MLG Pro Circuit'' was a television broadcast of ''Halo 2'' MLG tournaments in 2006 and 2007, ESPN.com, and other broadband sites. London Spitfire is a professional ''Overwatch'' team representing the city of London, United Kingdom. The Spitfire compete in the Overwatch League (OWL) as a member of the league's West region. Founded in 2017, London Spitfire is one of the league's twelve founding members and is one of two professional ''Overwatch'' teams representing a European city. The team is owned by Jack Etienne and the esports organization Cloud9, who also own British Hurricane, an academy team for the Spitfire that competed in Overwatch Contenders (OWC). A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost ''two'' games or matches. Fusion University (FU) was an American esports team for the video game ''Overwatch'' competing in Overwatch Contenders (OWC) and an academy team for the Philadelphia Fusion of the Overwatch League (OWL). 2018 Overwatch League Season
The 2018 Overwatch League season was the inaugural season for the Overwatch League, an esports league based on the video game ''Overwatch'' which began on January 10, 2018. Regular season play continued through June 16, 2018, while post-season play ran from July 11–28, 2018.
