Team Canada (roller Derby)
Team Canada represents Canada in women's international roller derby. The current team was first formed to compete at the 2011 Roller Derby World Cup, and finished the tournament in second place to Team USA, losing the final 336 points to 33. Team Canada has finished in the top four at each Roller Derby World Cup thus far. A previous Team Canada toured England and Scotland in June 2008. Skaters from the Calgary Roller Derby Association, Oil City Derby Girls, Saskatoon Roller Derby, Terminal City Roller Girls and Toronto Roller Derby played bouts against the Birmingham Blitz Dames, Glasgow Roller Girls and London Rollergirls. 2018 team Tryouts for the team that would compete at the 2018 Roller Derby World Cup were held in October 2016 in Rockland, Ontario and Calgary. 2011 Roller Derby World Cup
The 2011 Roller Derby World Cup was an international women's roller derby tournament organized by ''Blood & Thunder'' magazine. Teams of amateur skaters from around the world were fielded to compete for their respective nations. The inaugural 2011 Roller Derby World Cup was hosted by Toronto Roller Derby, and was held December 1 through 4, 2011, at Supply Depot (Toronto), The Bunker at Downsview Park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was won by Team USA (roller derby), Team USA, who beat Team Canada (roller derby), Team Canada by a score of 336 points to 33 in the final. Providence Roller Derby
Providence Roller Derby (PRD) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Providence, Rhode Island. Founded in 2004 as the first all-female, flat-track roller derby league in New England, Providence is a founding member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). History Sarah Kingan, using the derby name "Sarah Doom", a Brown University alumna, established Providence Roller Derby in 2004. She originally trained with Tucson Roller Derby while on an internship in Tucson, Arizona. After moving back to New England, she started the league in Providence. Skaters were recruited and trained for over a year before creating teams and public bouting. Kingan soon left Providence to pursue a doctorate at Harvard University, and shortly thereafter helped found the Boston Derby Dames. Queen City Roller Derby or QCRD, is the flat-track roller derby league based in Buffalo, New York. Founded as Queen City Roller Derby in 2006, the league is scheduled to play its fourteenth season in 2020. QCRD is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). Since 2016, Queen City plays home games at Buffalo RiverWorks on the city's waterfront, drawing upwards of 1,000 fans to events, with the home-team season typically running from January through June. Boston Roller Derby, (BRD), is a flat-track roller derby league based in Boston, Massachusetts. The league was founded as Boston Derby Dames in May 2005, and is a founding member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). The league's all-star team, the Boston Massacre, was one of the top 25 WFTDA Division 1 teams in the world through most of the duration of the divisional ranking system introduced in early 2013, and as of December 31, 2015, the Massacre was ranked at 21. E-Ville Roller Derby is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Founded in 2006, E-Ville is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
