Team Anglès
Team Anglès or English Colony Team, was a football scratch team based in Barcelona, Spain, which existed only during the year 1900, playing a total of four friendly matches against the likes of FC Barcelona and Català FC. The team mainly consisted of members of the British colony living in Barcelona, hence its name. Some historians ascribe this entity as "a group of thirty friends, English workers, who played alternately and without a regular squad". They also played a massive role in FC Barcelona's beginnings, since Team Anglès merged with them on 13 December 1899, just two weeks after Barça was founded, and some of its players were prominent figures in Barça's early success. Furthermore, the British brought their more advanced knowledge of football to the region, a sport still relatively unknown in Barcelona at the time. Velódromo De La Bonanova
The Velódromo de la Bonanova was a sports venue in the city of Barcelona, Spain. It was the first velodrome in the city, although it was located in the neighboring municipality of San Gervasio, which in 1897 was annexed to the Catalan capital. Later it hosted other sports competitions, especially football, being the very first playing field of FC Barcelona. It had a 400-meter stretch of cement with two 120-meter straight lines and two 80-meter banked cant. The preferred grandstand measured 40 meters and had ten stands. There was also a gallery for the jury and another for the press. The central field of grass was used for the practice of various sports, especially football, despite its irregularities, such as potholes and unevenness, and the usual presence of stones and thistles. Ernest Witty
Ernest Witty Cotton was an Anglo-Spanish footballer, tennis player and businessman. In 1899 Witty, a Spanish national tennis champion, became a founding member of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona and in the early 1900s he played football for FC Barcelona. He was also a successful trader and his family company, the Witty Group, continues to operate today. He is the younger brother of Arthur Witty. Early years Witty was the son of Frederick Witty, a British entrepreneur, who settled in Barcelona. Juan Francisco José de Urruela Morales (29 January 1881 - 16 December 1947) was an Guatemalan of Spanish descent footballer who played as a goalkeeper for FC Barcelona at the turn of the century. Henry Wood (footballer)
Henry Elwes Wood (1865 – 1907) was an English football pioneer who played as a defender for some of the earliest Catalan clubs in existence such as ''Barcelona Cricket Club'' and ''Barcelona Football Club''. Playing career Wood was born in 1865 as the son of Henry Wood and Isabella Matilda Elwes, who had eight children, six girls and two boys.
