Te Amo Amaru-Tibble
Te Amo Amaru-Tibble (born 11 May 1989) is a New Zealand netball player who has had three spells playing for Central Pulse. She first played for Pulse between 2009 and 2011, during the ANZ Championship era. In 2016 and 2017, she had a second spell. In 2021, Amaru-Tibble returned to Pulse for a third time. Early life, family and education Amaru-Tibble is a Māori with Ngāti Porou affiliations. She was born in Wellington. She is a distant cousin of Aliyah Dunn. They had never met before becoming 2021 Central Pulse teammates. However, they found out they are related through Dunn's Southland-based grandmother, who was originally a Tibble with Ngāti Porou family connections. Ngāti Porou
Ngāti Porou is a Māori iwi traditionally located in the East Cape and Gisborne regions of the North Island of New Zealand. Ngāti Porou is affiliated with the 28th Maori Battalion and has the second-largest affiliation of any iwi in New Zealand, with 71,910 registered members in 2006. The traditional rohe or tribal area of Ngāti Porou extends from Pōtikirua and Lottin Point in the north to Te Toka-a-Taiau (a rock that used to sit in the mouth of Gisborne harbour) in the south. Mt Hikurangi features prominently in Ngāti Porou traditions as a symbol of endurance and strength, and holds tapu status. In these traditions, Hikurangi is often personified. Ngāti Porou traditions indicate that Hikurangi was the first point to surface when Māui fished up the North Island from beneath the ocean. National Netball League (New Zealand)
The National Netball League is a New Zealand netball league. Since 2016 it has served as a second-level league, initially below the ANZ Championship and later below the ANZ Premiership. It is organised by Netball New Zealand. Between 2016 and 2020, due to sponsorship and naming rights arrangements, the NNL was known as the Beko Netball League. Since 2022, the league has been sponsored by Synergy Hair and, as a result, it is also known as the Synergy Hair National League. The teams in the competition are effectively the reserve teams of ANZ Premiership teams. Netball South won the inaugural title in 2016. Central Zone/Central Manawa have been the league's most successful team, winning three titles in a row between 2017 and 2019. Paula Griffin
Paula Griffin (born 11 July 1988 in Auckland, New Zealand) is a New Zealand netball player of Samoan descent. Griffin was named in the New Zealand U21 team for 2006. That year, she also signed with the Auckland Diamonds to play in the National Bank Cup. She also joined the Silver Ferns squad in September 2006, and the following year made her on-court debut against Jamaica at the 2007 World Netball Championships in Auckland, where the Silver Ferns came in second behind Australia. With the start of the ANZ Championship in 2008, Griffin signed with Auckland-based franchise, the Northern Mystics. But after receiving little court time, she opted to transfer to the winless Central Pulse for the 2009 season. Te Rauparaha Arena
Te Rauparaha Arena is a multi-purpose indoor sports and entertainment centre, with pools, dash swim school, a fitness centre and indoor sports stadium and venues, in Porirua, New Zealand. The centre, which cost NZ$17.5 million to construct, was officially opened on 21 November 2008. The main stadium has a maximum capacity of 3,000, while a secondary stadium can hold another 500 people. The venue was named by the Ngāti Toa iwi after one of their most famous leaders, Te Rauparaha. New South Wales Swifts are an Australian netball team based in Sydney, New South Wales. Since 2017 they have represented Netball New South Wales in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. The team was formed in 2007 when Netball New South Wales merged its two former Commonwealth Bank Trophy league teams, Sydney Swifts and Hunter Jaegers. Yvette McCausland-Durie
Yvette McCausland-Durie is a New Zealand netball coach and former netball player. As a player, she played for Western Flyers during the National Bank Cup era and represented New Zealand at under-21 level. She was a member of the New Zealand team that won the 1992 World Youth Netball Championships. As a head coach, McCausland-Durie guided Central Pulse to the 2019 and 2020 ANZ Premierships and the 2018 Super Club title. She has also worked with the senior New Zealand team as an assistant coach and with the under-21 team as a head coach. She was head coach when New Zealand won gold at the 2009 World Youth Netball Championships. McCausland-Durie is also a schoolteacher and educator. The New Zealand's elite women's basketball team is affectionately known to their home fans as the Tall Ferns. The team has been coached by Guy Molloy since 2018. The assistant coaches are Aik Ho and Jody Cameron. The Tall Ferns have a FIBA world ranking of 34. Kenny McFadden
Kenny McFadden (18 August 1960 – 24 March 2022) was an American basketball player and coach. Born in the United States, he moved to New Zealand in 1982 to play for the Wellington Saints, where he played 15 seasons and won four NBL championships. He was instrumental in developing and coaching New Zealand's young basketball players over 40 years. Early life and college McFadden grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, and attended J. W. Sexton High School. He played two seasons of college basketball for Washington State University between 1980 and 1982. Professional career McFadden moved to New Zealand in 1982 to play for the Wellington Saints.
