Tchaikovsky Music School, Yerevan
The Tchaikovsky Secondary Music School ( hy, Երևանի Չայկովսկու անվան երաժշտական դպրոց), is a secondary school in Yerevan, Armenia which opened in 1939. The school is a specialized secondary school where a total of 600 students are enrolled in a 12-year education, while at the same time receiving 2 certificates of general and vocational education. Over 70 percent of the school's alumni attend the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan. History and organization The school was founded on April 19, 1939, and two years later it was named after Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Until 1975, 665 graduates have been awarded. In 1982, A sculpture of Tchaikovsky (made by architects Yervand Goghabashyan, and Jim Torosyan) was erected on the front of the school building. Kentron District
Kentron ( hy, Կենտրոն վարչական շրջան, translit=Kentron varčakan šrĵan), is one of the Districts of Yerevan, 12 districts of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. It comprises the downtown, the commercial centre of the city. As of the 2011 census, the district has a population of 125,453. Kentron is bordered by Ajapnyak District, Ajapnyak and Malatia-Sebastia District, Malatia-Sebastia districts from the west, Shengavit District, Shengavit and Erebuni District, Erebuni districts from the south, Nor Nork District from the east and Arabkir District, Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun District, Kanaker-Zeytun districts from the north. Hrazdan River flows through the western part of the district. Vahagn Hayrapetyan
Vahagn Hayrapetyan ( hy, Վահագն Հայրապետյան) (born August 30 1968) is a jazz pianist, singer and composer. Honored Artist of Armenia. Biography Vahagn Hayrapetyan was born in Yerevan in the family of fiddler Karapet Hayrapetyan and Alice Adamyan. He graduated from the Tchaikovsky Music School and Yerevan State Conservatory as pianist and composer. Vahagn learned from Barry Harris and Frank Hewitt in New York City and worked and performed with many prominent jazz musicians such as Elvin Jones, Jimmie Lovelace, Leroy Williams, Ari Roland, Zaid Nasser, Chris Byears, Yaala Baalin, Keith Baala, Jason and Delfeo Marsalis and many more.
